Excellent. JUCO players are a great way to build a program, just ask Jackie Sherrill. This coaching staff is going to need experienced players because their coaching ability is suspect. Posted via Mobile Device
The funny thing was someone asked Mark Murphy over at ITAT a week or so ago of what he thought of him, and he said something to the effect of, "Reminds me of that Utah kid that tore Alabama up in the Sugar Bowl." And, of course, the only reason he said this was (1) he's white and (2) he had an offer from Utah.
I don't know, I just found it funny. You have to love when Auburn evaluates one of their prospects solely on how some other kid who sort of looks like the kid they are signing did against Alabama.
Bonomolo, Obamanu...Yep--sounds like an Aubie to me

Apparently, Aubie "Still haven't found what they are looking for."

The quote of the week came when Upshaw noted the AU coaching staff was still recruiting him. “They said I could come to AU and be another Quentin Groves. I told them that I could go to Alabama and be another Quentin Groves,” he said.
I was actually very impressed with Bonomolo's film.
They're not a perfect comparison (but I have to because they're both white), but I don't think Craig Sanders looks any better on film than Bonomolo does.

I'll be ducking now
Eh, you are right, his highlight videos online are pretty impressive. On the other hand, he plays at what is easily one of the most valuable positions in football (in the top four, easily), and if he was really that good his offer list would be a heckuva lot better than what it was. As importance as the defensive end position is in modern football, anyone who is really that good will have every school in the country knocking down his door. The fact that he basically picked Auburn over the Arizona schools, Utah, and Iowa State ought to tell you something.I imagine this is a case of where a highlight video doesn't quite tell the entire tale. I highly doubt that each and every single talent evaluator of the nation's top 30 programs just made a mistake on whiffed on him.
For Sanders, though, I think you might want to watch some more film. I've seen him person twice, and he brings it on every down. You find yourself watching him, not the game. Don't get me wrong, obviously a lot of that is due to the low level of competition surrounding him, but nevertheless you'll be hard-pressed to find any player, any level, that is more consistently dominant of his opposition than Sanders.

they struck out on Washington, Rea, and Mack who they all thought were "locks".
the usual spin with these delusional barners is that these guys were not "priorities" for their coaching staff.. they have much better prospects on their pecking order.
but you do have some barners that are more realistic in their 2010 recruiting outlook, they are the ones that know that missing out on these quality prospects will come back and haunt the program down the line!!

Very true. While you can definitely make some definitive judgments about players from their highlight videos, they're just what they claim to be — highlights.
With that said, I don't know how good of a DE Bonomolo truly is, but what I *can* see from his videos is that he's got better athleticism than you'd expect from a guy who's got a fairly pedestrian offer list.
Regarding Sanders, good to hear he impressed you so much in person. I'm always a little skeptical when I'm seeing highlights of a guy who looks like he's playing against Oompa-Loompas.

What more do you expect from a program who centers 99% their thoughts around us?
