Look there are some bad rumors going around about Ambles. They will not be discussed here even though a lot of folks think they are true and say they are true. Short of someone coming up with something credible like a published article on the matter then derogatory rumors and innuendo will not be posted or discussed here.
What we do know on the public record is that UGA never offered Ambles. It is being said that he tried to commit to USC earlier in the year. Some folks supposedly in the know have said that USC would not accept his commitment and they pulled his offer. Then the Army AA All-star game publically dropped him from their roster with no reason being given in the media. Now some other folks are saying that Ambles recently tried to commit to Florida and was turned down and put into a slow play situation. Other than the info reported by the media we really do not know the whole story in the Ambles recruitment. I am not even sure if his Bama offer was committable. He is now committed to Tennessee.

Ambles attended Florida’s Friday Night Lights camp last week, and decided that Tennessee was the best place for me. Rumors circulated on internet message boards that Ambles tried to make a commitment to the Gators, something that he cleared up Tuesday.
“Going into Friday’s camp Tennessee was in the lead,” Ambles said. “After the camp they still led for my services. At no time did I commit to Florida. One of the major differences for me between the two schools is the coaching staff.”

McDonough’s Markeith Ambles, one of the best wide receivers in Georgia, made Tennessee’s Lane Kiffin a very happy man Tuesday morning. Ambles called to say he wanted to become a Volunteer.
“He was very ecstatic, excited,” said Ambles, a 6-foot-2, 180-pound senior at Henry County High. “He started yelling and screaming telling the rest of the coaches.”
Ambles couldn’t say whether any of the Tennessee coaches ripped off their shirts. But they’re getting a good player indeed.
It really seemed like we cooled on him when the alleged "character issues" popped up.
Kiffin got him one more high-character recruit
I believe even most VOL fans will agree that Fulmer either never had or lost the will to adequately discipline his players. In his last few years the Vols' tendency to lack team discipline and team cohesiveness probably, more than anything, led to increasing losses. Thus, the firing, uh resignation.
With the players that Kiffin seems to want to recruit, he'd better be better at instilling discipline than Fulmer was, or he'll be walking a thin rope to oblivion. I'm certain neither Mike Hamilton or Vol fans in general will put up with a repeat performance for long.
If there are indeed "issues", I hope Mr. Ambles moves beyond them and I wish him well at Tennessee. I'm OK with it if he has a few bad games against Alabama though...

I think it is too often people bring up the "problem" recruits Kiffin has recruited or signed, that they forget the "problem" recruits he's denied.
For example, Dexter Moody, this kid was a four star LB that originally signed with UGA in 09' but was dismissed (released of his LOI) due to "lack of discipline" issues. It was considered a done deal that he would be signed by Kiffin (w/ Tennessee being his second choice). Well Kiffin evaluated him and apparently decided not to sign him. He remains unsigned.
Not to mention the problem players Kiffin has kicked off the team, regardless of their star status, or potential as a player.
I think with each “problem” player Kiffin has signed or received a commitment from, you’ll find each had their unique circumstance which they had matured from and therefore the explanation of Kiffin’s decision to take that player.
I’ll also point out, I believe there have been no arrests since Kiffin arrival to Tennessee...

I'm not sure why the word problem is quoted several times. I didn't use it, but obviously could have meant something like that.
Kiffin has backed off certain recruits. But a couple only after a groundswell of negative opinion and publicity began to arise. You are there so I'm sure you know if I'm wrong about that.
Hey, being a loyal Vol fan, you surely are more knowledgeable about the goings on at UT than I am. Maybe I was also wrong about Kiffin needing to discipline his players better than Fulmer did. Maybe not.
It will be fun watching how things play out won't it?

Someone enlighten me here . . . a MAJOR difference in UT's favor over UF is the coaching staff?? One is an entirely new staff, led by an unproven rookie college coach, and the other is a seasoned staff that has won TWO national championships led by one of the best head coaches in the nation? How does that possibly play in UT's favor?

How about a top notch WR commiting to a school with terrible QB play? I think we should stop comparing LK to Shula and start comparing him to DuBose. Posted via Mobile Device
