I read some interesting news on Gabe King from the North Carolina Scout board. Apparently King has been ruled inelgible to play football in the state of North Carolina for this coming season. This is the main reason why he'll head out-of-state to play his college football, at Alabama or Cal.
Quote:
Northern Guilford High School in Greensboro "recruited" King to play at their high school, despite the fact his true residence was listed in another district (Page High School, also in Greensboro). A relative of his lived in NGHS's district, so King listed that as his residence so that he could transfer and play for the Nighthawks. Unfortunately for him, the NCHSAA conducted an investigation of NGHS (which actually resulted in the dismissal of both the athletic director and the principal of the high school) and ruled that King could not only not play for Northern Guilford, but he couldn't play for any other school in the state, forcing him to look elsewhere to play if he chose to continue his high school playing career.
Quote:
In the wake of his debacle where his eligibility to play high school football in the state of North Carolina was taken away after a bunch of adults tried to take advantage of his athletic prowess, he's decided to go outside of the state to play football, for high school and college now. He will likely end up at Cal or Alabama.

I'd heard that, but I figured he was just going to sit out this year. Wonder if he will go out of state, and I hope it isn't SC.
It looks like he'll play his senior season outside the state of North Carolina, but I don't know where at this point. His college choices seem to be down to Alabama and California. He is pretty good friends with Keenan Allen, who is considered a lean to Alabama. So, that all seems to bode well for Alabama. I don't think South Carolina is on the radar at this point.

King said the six schools likely vying for five official visits are Alabama, Oregon, Cal, Tennessee, Maryland and Miami. He raved about Cal, Oregon and Alabama, and it seems safe to say those would be three likely officials. The others could be up for grabs.
He also seems to be very enamored with the pace and weather of the West Coast, as well as the urban setting of College Park. He's said in several interviews that he'd like to leave the South for college.
I wouldn't take the Sporting News as truth. I'll wait until Rivals or Scout updates his situation. The last udate had Alabama among his finalists, along with Cal, Oregon, Tennessee, Maryland, and Miami.

That article is also from July 17th before he came to our camp. If you also read it, it talks about him playing with Keenan which now he has been disqualified from playing in NC for HS this fall. That is a old article.

That being the case, then I know we're still at the top of his list. He put Alabama at or near the top after the camp. Him being friends with Keenan Allen is also a plus.

Not to mention the poster of this article seems to be a UT fan. Look at his other posts. According to their boards anyone that has UT on their list is not considering us.
