Phillip Rivers little brother is the quarterback at his old high school, Athens, in Athens, Alabama. I looked on rivals and he has bama down as one of top choices. Is Alabama even recruiting him? I watched him play last year and he was amazing as a sophmore. If he is anything like his brother I sure hope we are recruiting him, especially since he will be in the 2011 recruiting class.
I believe Alabama is looking at Stephen Rivers for the 2011 class. We will be pretty stocked at QB by then, but we may look to add one in that class, and Rivers could very well get that spot. I'm not sure where he'll rank with most services, but the likelihood of Alabama taking a national Qb recruit is unlikely, so if Rivers doesn't get tons of recruiting attention (and the QB depth doesn't send him looking elsewhere), he could end up at Alabama.

Coach Bryant, after announcing his retirement, was asked if he was dissappointed that an Alabama player had never won the Heisman Trophy while he was the coach. He said, "No!", and added, "At Alabama our players do not win Heisman Trophies, our teams win national championships."
"And Shepherds we shall be
For thee, my Lord, for thee.
Power hath descended forth from Thy hand
Our feet may swiftly carry out Thy commands.
So we shall flow a river forth to Thee
And teeming with souls shall it ever be.
In Nomeni Patri Et Fili Spiritus Sancti."
I know depth at a position is something recruits consider and in this case Alabama may well have a lot of quality players at a given position...but almost all of it is unproven.
I don't know a thing about Rivers other than who his brother is. However, I know that one play changes everything...ask Prothro. I also know that Rivals or Scouts or anyone else can't evaluate the things that can matter most in recruiting like character, work ethic, heart, etc. 4 and 5 star recruits are important to get but we all know the stories about guys like Rashaad Johnson and Demeco Ryans.
I wish the Rivers kid the best and if that means he ends up at Bama, so be it.
Besides us and UT, who else are looking at him and who else does he have in his top teams thus far?

This is just my opinion(which wouldn't matter one whit with recuriters) but I attended the game between Athens (5A) against Brooks (4A)Although Athens won but after struggling through almost the entire game until the last minute or so.All of that is unimportant, but what is important,Rivers has an unorthodox throwing motion. It looks like between overhand and side arm. He probably will fill out and gain more weight; needs to be more agile.
He can get by with that throwing motion in high school but not colledge.
I too, wish him the best and as I stated above this is only an opinion.

His big brother had the same throwing motion. Things turned out ok for him.
