Keenan Allen and Da’Rick Rogers are now five-star prospects on Scout.com. They were borderline before the 2009 season and we have seen enough to move them up early on this fall.
Allen is 6-foot-2, 194 pound athlete out of Greensboro (N.C.) Northern Guilford that plays safety and wide receiver. He has great size, great length, a great burst, and great athleticism.
A recruiting writer in the Carolinas tells me Clemson may emerge as a compromise between us and Oregon for Allen and his family.
Anybody hearing this?
Clemson has always been there. However, Allen would be better served to go to Alabama. Clemson is forever a 8-4 team. They may have wins like Miami, but then they lose to Maryland and NC State.

That actually would make no sense. If he goes to Clemson it is because he likes them over us. His family wants him at UA not Oregon, so there is no need to compromise there.
Also I would be really surprised to see him at Clemson. They might have different coaches next year. They have had several recruits already looking elsewhere after commiting, including V Beasley who now is looking at the Barn.
Let's put it this way . . . According to the guy with whom I talked, Clemson will win out if distance becomes the key factor. Oregon is out of the running, so suddenly we're the school on the other side of the moon.
I've felt good about Alabama getting Keenan Allen for several months.
If he were to go to Clemson...............man what a waste! I just can't see this happening.

By all means I want the guy to make the best choice for himself and do what he wants.....but I would like to put it this way. Clemson and MAYBE get to play in an ACC title game since everybody in the ACC always ends up losing 2-3 games in conference and it is like rolling the dice with the head-to-head tie breakers......or BAMA a team that is consistently getting stronger and is beginning to look like a BAMA team should, winning a bunch of games and dominating opponents for the most part. A team with chances at not only SEC titles but NC titles as well in the coming yrs. I won't tell the guy what to do it is, his decision but if it were me with his talent and chance to play at either school I know where I would be going...homer or not I would rather play for Saban. And in case you didn't know 33 out of the 47 LSU players that are playing in the NFL were recruited by Nick Saban, add Smith, Coffee, Johnson....it is just job security IMO.
