Sims declined comment for this story and deferred to his father and Gainesville coach Bruce Miller. “Me and his father are going to handle this,” Miller said. “It’s a touchy situation and we want keep Blake out of it.”

Well it sounds like his parents, family, and HS coach want him there. Let him go. I said it before I only want players that are 100% behind the UA program if not please go elsewhere. If this is what the kid wants then the father needs to leave it be, but it sounds like the father wants UGA and why the kid is not coming forth on the issue. The same father who said he was commited to us 100%. I like how the father said I teach my son that his word is his word but yet we will give UGA another chance.
Please do not misunderstand my post. I am NOT angry because if he does go elsewhere it will open up another spot for another player that we need. He would be a great addition to UA.

Sounds like he's a big bulldogs fan. If he wants to win a few games thats a great option but if he wants to win championships he needs to stick with us. The way there seasons going Coach Richt may not be there much longer anyway.
Very, very wishy-washy. Richt and every other coach out there will always say the right thing to a potential recruit and his family at the camps. How else would you expect the coach to act? The coach will say what he needs to especially if the parents are heavily involved. Bama thought enough of this kid before the season started and offered, Sims accepted. Richt was not completely sold on the kid until he had undeniable proof. Hey Richt, was the kid not good enough to help keep your job before the season started? Is he good enough now? Richt is begging.
I certainly hope the Sims family can see right through Richt and let their son keep his word to Saban. The National Championship/Dynasty/NFL train is rolling. To be offered a ticket to board the train is like winning a lottery. It is what dreams are made of and where legends are born.
If he wants to go let him go....just like I posted yesterday to "The Process" GA has struck out on their slot WR prospects. They wonder why Richt never called or jumped on Sims early....it is b/c Richt didn't want the guy, he wanted other players. Now he knows that the other players he was going after aren't coming and he is going back to his back-up plan in Sims, he got complacent thinking that he had Sims in the bag and could get him whenever, which may be true. But I bet he never thought Saban would come in and get a verbal either. GA is sliding down their board at slot WR's it is a fairly big priority for them this yr being as they really don't have a Maze on their roster and have several taller WR's and no true slot burners to compliment them. Sounds to me that GA will get him to de-commit and if they do, it just opens more spots in our class. We have some slot guys already waiting in the wings so no big deal.
footnote: DeAndrew White fits a lot better in the slot than Sims will....I don't want another player who is used to a position like say QB, then gets moved to defense and wastes time developing into a better player at a spot he should have been to begin with...i.e. BJ Scott(such a talent and he hasn't even seen the field yet due to wanting to play on offense)
Sims 40 time=4.56
White40 time=4.40
We have plenty of safeties on the roster with more speed than Sims as well for all you "he will play safety for BAMA guys"(and not disputing that either)....I like the kid but don't know if I want a 4.56 guy coming over the top with safety help, it would make him the 2nd slowest safety on the roster faster than Neighbors and that's it. Just something to think about, when you look at the "whole picture" does he even play at BAMA???

I pretty much agree with this and just posted the same response on VolNation a hour ago. UT fans believe we are loosing players, but I don't. D white commiting make sense for BS to maybe look elsewhere and D White is a better prospect for the slot. Also with A Dixon looking our way the safety postion might not look to good for BS. UGA is grasping at straws now.
Re: Blake Sims Update (10/21): Gets call from Coach Richt
Just remember folks, no improper criticism of a recruit. They read these boards.
And, it would be extremely sad if we lost Sims. I don't care what his 40 time on Rivals is, he's an electrifying athlete. I think he's too good with ball in his hands to play defense, and I could see us using him in the Wildcat.
That said, I understand his feelings. If he wanted to play for UGA all along, then he should...and we should wish him well except for when we play him.

I think so too and believe we will continue to pursue him hard for that reason if for no other.
Re: Blake Sims Update (10/21): Gets call from Coach Richt
He is a young man in a tough spot. He (and his family) needs to take a step back and catch his breath.
I spoke with a man closely associated with the UGA Athletic Department today and he told me that the Dawgs poor showing on the field and the accompanying meltdown of their always patient fanbase has caused a number of their recruits to question their commitments.
Maybe CMR thought he didn't need Blake earlier. He thinks differently now.

I agree with your comments 100%...if he's not totally committed to play Bama football -- let him go!
