RV Tires

Share

We have a Allegro Bus Diesel pusher 35'. We have Michelin 235/80R 22.5 XRV tires on it. According to a lot of the motorhome publications you should get aprox. 7 years out of them. My experience is that they will dry rot and start to blow out during the 6th year. Anyone else have a similar experience?

Re: RV Tires

When I was in the military we swapped tires every 7 years if they needed it or not. Michelin tires are great tires on an RV. We use them on our New Fire Engine.

Re: RV Tires

My current rv is less than 2 years old & the used one I had for 5 years before that received a new set the day I bought it, so I can't say that I have experienced anything like that. However, I have heard/talked to numerous people who change their tires every 5-7 years regardless of condition.

Yeah, it pains me to change them out even though they look brand new after 5 years. We had a 6 year old tire blow in the everglades on a Sunday morning. We spent 4 hours on the side of the road. Fortunately we broke down in front of a park rangers house.

Yeah, it's strange why this happens, but apparently it is definitely something that many people have experienced....

Sounds like you were lucky you had the flat where you did if it was as hot as I remember it being in the everglades

Big A Re: RV Tires

I'm getting ready to change out our Michelins (5years+48K miles), we are showing signs of microcracking. The heat kills these things.

Anybody ever had any Toyo's ($220 ea).

Re: RV Tires

Toyo's are good tires. One of the top tires next to Michelin IMO.
