RV in Atlanta

Share

Brand new RV person here. My first Bama RV trip will be to Atlanta for Va. Tech. I'm looking for reports on RV experience in Atlanta. Good places down town? Places to avoid?

Thanks

Re: RV in Atlanta

The same group that plans the Chick-fil-A Bowl plans the Kickoff Classic. You can find RV parking info at this site once it is updated - www.cfack.com

For last year's site and info, just click through to http://www.cfack.com/HOME/tabid/36/Default.aspx.

I live in Atlanta so we don't take the RV down for these games, but they do have one paved lot for all RV's. I would suggest checking the site frequently to see when they post the information because once it gets posted, the spots are likely to go fast. Once those are gone, there are no other sites that I'm aware of anywhere nearby.

You're within walking distance of the aquarium, the coke museum, centennial park, Stats (a great sports bar) and a couple of restaurants so there is a little bit to do during the day if you arrive early on Friday. I wouldn't be out walking around after dark around the parking lots or the dome though. You'll want a car or taxi to go out a night.

Re: RV in Atlanta

Thanks for the reply. I had sent an e-mail to them earlier and received information on registering or the parking space.

I've spent a little time in Atlanta so am familiar with the downtown night crawlers...

Re: RV in Atlanta

Last year was my first year as well. I went to both the opener with Clemson and the SEC Championship with Florida. The Yellow Lot was open both times for RV's. The lots are great and secure. They have security 24/7 during the duration of the event. If you get a spot, get there as early as possible. The lot usually opens at 6am and by 6:10am a line stretchs down the street. I have a travel trailer so I have to get there early so I can maneuver my trailer into an easy spot. The night before the lots open, you can stay in the Marshalling Yard next to the Yellow Lot. For the SEC Championship, they opened the Marshalling Yard for RV's as well. I didn't have tickets so we stayed at the RV during the games. I had a great time and will be coming back as many times as Bama can make it. If you need anything else, let me know. Roll Tide.
