I can't comment on the camping, but there are quite a few campgrounds in the area. Helen and the surrounding area is beautiful. Nice shopping. River tubing. Hiking. Golf (around the mountain in Young Harris). Brasstown Bald (highest point in GA). Good food.
Awesome place to visit!

Try linking to Creekwood Resort: Helen, Georgia Mountain Cabin Rentals | North Georgia RV Campgrounds if you are looking for a quite campground. Warning, no swimming pool kiddie playgrounds etc. If you are looking for a place to entertain the kids this is not it, but plenty around.
