  1. Re: Alabama's defensive struggles on 3rd-and-long

A blitz can come from walking LBs or DBs up to the line or from blitzing them from their normal position.

For example, the Redskins blitzed Dallas a lot last Monday and they mostly brought...
  2. Re: Alabama's defensive struggles on 3rd-and-long

You've hit on the #1 cause. I'm not sure why, hasn't been able to blitz well for about 4 or 5 years. We either lose containment on 3rd down or the rush is so controlled and methodical that the QB...
  3. Re: Week 1 College football playoff poll released

The committee is going by who currently has the best resume - that factors in quality wins, quality losses and bad losses. At the end of the year, apparently conference championships will factor in...
  4. Re: Week 1 College football playoff poll released

Because conference titles are mostly meaningless to elite programs that care about national titles - they're just a means to an end and help guarantee a seat in the playoffs.

    To be clear, I think...
  5. Re: Week 1 College football playoff poll released

Ole Miss plays both Auburn and Mississippi State so they should mostly take care of each other. Alabama still has Mississippi State and Auburn so that leaves plenty of opportunity for quality wins....
  6. Re: Week 1 College football playoff poll released

This is the best news possible as it shows that the committee is not opposed to having multiple teams from the same conference in the final four.
  7. Re: Dan Wetzel Makes The Best Point Possible About Alleged SEC Bias...

That's a good point - the only top 10 TV market where the SEC is completely dominant is Atlanta (#8) though. Nashville (#29) is probably the next largest SEC dominant city.

    The Florida cities are...
  8. Re: Dan Wetzel Makes The Best Point Possible About Alleged SEC Bias...

That ranking measures the percentage of households in a city that are watching a particular show or category - it doesn't measure absolute number of viewers.

For example, a 1.0 rating in NYC or...

    Re: Coaching Moves

That's a great point - so far his only objective improvement over Dooley has been last year's win over South Carolina. I'm not saying that he's a failure or anything, but there really isn't any...

    Re: Coaching Moves

There's really not a lot of upside of being a coach in the SEC West unless its at one of the premier programs. Any success at the national level will be very hard earned and almost impossible to...

Kevin Sumlin is the most recent example of going against this advice and getting burnt.

    Re: 2014 = 2011?

One of the problems for 2-SEC teams to be in final four is FSU. The committee will be hard pressed to put 3 southern teams in the playoffs - especially if Notre Dame, Michigan State and Oregon all...
  13. Re: When Coaches Lose a Game: which games come to the forefront of your mind?

You are correct. I was thinking of a 2 loss tiebreaker. I agree that the Mississippi schools do control their own destiny.
  14. Re: When Coaches Lose a Game: which games come to the forefront of your mind?

That might depend a lot on whether the selection committee wants to take 2 SEC teams - especially if Ole Miss doesn't win the west due to losing a 3 team tie-breaker.

Re: ****Bama vs. UT - Postgame Thread****

When a program or coaching staff starts taking solace in moral victories, it has truly lost its way. We know that from the Franchoine and Shula days.

Dobbs played very well last year against an...
