  1. Re: Freedom!!! (Scotland to vote on secession.)

Pound smacked as support for U.K. breakup grows

Most still think of the breakup as unlikely, but the polls have tightened and uncertainty is always unnerving to investors.

Re: It's official - Russian enter Crimea

IOW, Putin doesn't want to conquer Czechoslovakia, he just wants the Sudeten Germans to have the right to self-determination, free from their current oppressors.

Edit - no blue font due to cell...

Re: It's official - Russian enter Crimea

I get what you're saying and it's a valid point, particularly if done in a huff and unilaterally. Also valid, though, is that the UN would have a difficult time enforcing anything if the US weren't...

Re: IRS unable to produce emails to Congress

I my middle-aged lifetime, I remember every standing POTUS being criticized for taking vacations. I know it predates me, as Ike was criticized for it as well.

Re: FEMA loans forgiven in Louisiana

Landrieu is the sister of the current mayor of New Orleans and daughter of a past mayor. She's old money, Louisiana style, and is as honest as any Talmadge, Long, or Barbour who ever held office.

    Re: Normandy daily - 1944

Chateau Thierry and Belleau Wood are storied battlegrounds in USMC lore. Interesting to see two posters with grandfathers who were Great War veterans in that area.
