  1. Re: Why the last of the JFK files could embarrass the CIA

Yup, that was kind of weird.

I'm with Selma and HSV. If there is a conspiracy it has to involve Oswald. I doubt even those, but there is some plausibility. I can see there being some promise of...

Link: Re: What we leave behind - "Zone Rouge."

Several years ago a friend's family forced their Grandfather to trace his WWII route. There were some areas he could not go in due to this. He told us that they would come across WWI ordinance when...

Re: Superpower (new book on US foreign policy)

No doubt there was a plenty of opposition, a great deal of it. I just believe there was plenty of support to go in. U.N. or not. Like TW said we did not have the plan, support, or patience once we...

Re: Superpower (new book on US foreign policy)

For the most part I agree.

There are times though that attempts to use diplomatic means only delay the inevitable and allow digging in and hardening of the targets. Hindsight makes these examples...
  5. Re: Why the last of the JFK files could embarrass the CIA

    *like*

Given his history, and what I have read, I think it was just an opportunity to get some fame. I think he just happened to have a job on the route, some pretty strong communist leanings and...
  6. Re: Why the last of the JFK files could embarrass the CIA

This is going to get interesting. My guess is both sides of the fault line on whether Oswald acted alone will have some information that bolsters their argument. I doubt we will find any evidence of...

Re: What European country is your perfect fit?

Me too, but I enjoy the Mediterranean countries far more than being in the UK.
  8. Re: Remembering the infamous ZZ Top show at Texas' Memorial Stadium

Saw Santana this year. He STILL can make that connection and puts on a great show.

I normally do not enjoy the concerts in huge venues as much as the medium to smaller ones. There are obvious...
  9. Re: Any Game of Thrones TV Show watchers or Book readers out there?

I tried because it was in my genre wheelhouse too, and a friend recommended it to me. I couldn't get past the overblown gratuitous nudity. I made it through two shows and just stopped.
  10. Re: Big Banks Plead Guilty To Market Manipulation, Will Pay $5.8 Billion

I agree on both counts. Any fine that is less than forfeiture of funds gained from the fraud does not serve the purpose of the fine.
  11. Re: Jeb Bush: Constitution doesn't grant a"right" to gay marriage

IMO benefits are back ended exemptions from taxation. SSI included. All the other survivor benefits you listed are for the most part handled via wills. I have no problem with people wanting these...
  12. Re: Jeb Bush: Constitution doesn't grant a"right" to gay marriage

BiB and TW are arguing (correctly IMO) that trying to shoe horn it under Article 4 Section 2, or the 14th amendment is absurd.

That said. I can understand why people try to use that argument....
  13. Re: Jeb Bush: Constitution doesn't grant a"right" to gay marriage

    I agree completely.

    Thus the user name?
  15. Re: Watching History Channel on the last days of the NAZIs...

I guess that is the 4th option. Trying to support the guy in power to make either make friends or keep a void from being formed does not have a history of success either. Those who are now arguing...
