Whatever Happened To Marquez Dupree?

I was watching old highlights on ESPN Classic the other day of Marcus Dupree and it got me to thinking, whatever happened to his son Marquez? I know he signed with us, but after he didn't make it, I never heard another word and I can't find anything about him anywhere.

Speaking of Dupree's, anyone remember Randy Dupree? He was a highly thought of RB recruit when he started his Sr. year but as it went on he faded away. I don't remember him signing with anyone and assumed he would go JUCO. I thought he was good enough that we might hear from him again but I never did. Anyone know anything on him?

Any other former recruits or signees that anyone has questions/info about, this seems like as good of a place as any to post about it. It's something to do while we wait for the summer to pass.

He left Alabama after one year under Coach Fran, and returned to Mississippi. I believe he enrolled in a junior college, but nothing ever came of a football career. It seems his football career went the way of his father's, ending before it should have.

The reason Marquez did not stay or play was because he blew his knee apart during the 1st week of Fall camp . It was a major career threatening blow out . He didn't have a step to lose to begin with so , he left deciding to try to rehab and play at a JUCO or small college which never happened .

I thought I read a while back that Marcus was working in the casinos over in MS somewhere--remember he was only the 1983 preseason favorite to win the Heisman and went on to have a little success in the USFL after he left OU during the fallout with Barry Switzer. Not sure what his son is doing now. Kinda sad how both of their football careers ended, though. The dad especially seemingly had huge potential.

Probably in Philidelphia, Miss. The Duprees are from that area. There are a number of casinos there, with the Cherokee reservation close by.

I seem to recall another reason he left was that the staff at the time wanted him to move to fullback and he didn't want any part of that. He simply didn't have the speed to play RB, might have made a pretty good FB. IMO, he left in part to injury and part of it was blow to the ego.

My wife worked at the Silver Star about 15 years ago. At that time Marcus was at least a semi-regular customer there. She said he was always decked out in a white suit with lots of gold, and had an entourage. Course, that was a long time ago.

Hmm. Choctaws are 'round Philadelphia, MS.

You'll find Cherokees in NC over the Smokies east of Rocky Top.

BTW, understand the Creeks are up and gaming at Atmore. You really don't have to go far to lose your money.

Yep, you're right. I have family near Siloam Springs, Arkansas, and the Cherokee have casinos there. Spent some time there recentyly and I typed before I thought on that one. Plus, I should have known better having grown up not too far from Philidelphia, Miss.
