most likely not because of being an in-state school....only SEC school I an think of that has done this recently in LSU by plaing UL-Monroe, UL-Lafayette, La. Tech, Nichols St. I think and Tulane (and Georgia played 1-AA Georgia Southern this year)

but LSU has major control over the recruiting in Louisiana so it really doesn't matter that much to them

I'm still waiting for Miss. St. and Ole Miss to play Southern Miss again

This sucks. I guess we'll have to pick up another scrub to fill the schedule.

Can we play Bama twice in one year?

Right. Usually schedule someone like Oklahoma. What, you schedule them and they don't accept? I know you've lost to them twice in the last couple years, does that count as usually.

I believe you USUALLY play directional schools OOC such as Western Carolina, Middle Tennessee, etc.

Would they dare play Troy? or UAB?
Somebody call Charleston and see if the Citadel is open.
How about Samford again? That chunk of change would go nicely toward a new arena for the Bulldogs' basketball teams.

Bama came very close to a victory with third and fourth string players.

I'd love the opportunity to beat a bunch of chest beating whinners two times in one year. This was AU's one big year in 47 years and you still only come up second best. Oh well, better luck in 47 years.

Go back to your animal husbandry class.
I suspect that all Aubie male students are well schooled in Animal Husbandry.

I took at look at Auburn's schedule and it isnt THAT wimpy. Ball State isn't a household name around the South, but they are probably better than Citadel. The loss of Southern Miss would lighten it a bit, but Auburn is pretty much rebuilding this year, wont be a serious contender for a National Championship anyway. The SEC is a meatgrinder anyway and so its probably a good move on their part. The move differs little from our playing a Western Carolina during our rebuilding year last season. I dunno if we actually "dropped" a team to pick up Western Carolina, but I'm glad we played em. Had our schedule been much tougher than it was, we'd likely have been sitting home in the bowl season.

C'mon gang, we of all people have little reason to make fun of Auburn for playing a lighter schedule. Auburn has little to lose and much to gain by dropping Southern Miss (who btw, is becoming a pretty good program). It won't hurt Auburn's chances for an SEC title run and since there's no reason to think they'll make another NC run, it doesn't hurt there either.

Maybe...

...Hoover or Mtn. Brook has an open date. That would be better than the Citadel or La Monroe.. And I have a news flash for dub: Phil Fulmer has a LOT more to do with Alabama losing to Auburn than Tubby does. Watch and see what happens as we come out of our scholly reductions.
