I was listening to his show yesterday and im a youngster 20 yrs old I may say, but it just seems that he has something against us. I loyal Bama fan called and said that he thinks Shula has us going in the right direction and I agreed and here comes Finebaum ruins the moment after a good comment and says which direction is that because " A monkey could recruit good players to Alabama". It just makes me mad listening to this guy who thinks we will have a down year. Other point John Croyle was on the sports radio station in Huntsville today and said that Brodie told him for the first time that he thinks we will be a good and that agents are telling Brodie we will be the third QB chosen with a good year. Big things is gonna happen this year at the Capstone I can see it now Roll Tide Roll

Yeah, listening to Finebaum can be frustrating. I see him more as entertainment than real news about sports for the most part. He always says things like that about Bama because he knows it will rile up the fans so they will call in. I think Bama gets the worst of it, but he is always saying bad things about everyone for that reason. So people will get mad and call in.

Finebaum is not against us. Finebaum is cynical and is just trying to get ratings. Finebaum is more or less a Bama fan, b/c as bama does well he does well. He knows that the state is about 60/40 Bama to Auburn fans. This also means his listeners are about the same ratio.

Just realize he is a cynic and then you'll get his show. I love it and find it very entertaining.

I personally love the Finebaum show. Sure, he takes his jabs at Bama and every other school in the SEC, but sometimes I think the jabs are deserved. There is a lot of truth to what he says sometimes, and when the truth hurts it makes people mad. If you can get past all of that then you can really get a lot of information and knowledge from his show. Just one Bama fan's opinion....

finds a way to agree with each caller somehow (as long as the caller has a negative comment!) even if he has to turn 180 degrees from his previous statement to do so.

It is so obvious that he just says what he can to rile things up.

What bugs me the most are his "regular" callers (I suspect they are "compensated" in some fashion, as they get on the air way too easily). Particularly vexing is "Jim? from Tuscaloosa" who professes to be a Bama fan but has not had the first kind word to say about Coach Shula or his staff. The guy is clueless!

Gotta go before I lose my perspective. ;)

It's all about the ratings and PF knows how to stir the pot. Then he has that weasel little laugh. What gets me is that he rarely talks about actual sports information. I consider sports information different than meaningless sports gossip or chatter. I don't think he has a clue about how any sport is actually played.

Roll Tide.

1. If you don't like what Finebaum has to say.........here is a novel idea.....DON'T LISTEN TO HIM!!!

2. Shula can shut up Finebaum real quick by beating API & Thugessee this year.

Bingo! You hit the nail on the head! Finebaum will reverse field a a nano second. I think there are several reasons for this. It keeps callers dialing, he has no real convistions about his opinion, he's too spineless to stand up to any caller that might know more than he does. Of course, for a man who never played any sport, even at the pee-wee level, it is absurd to give his opinions any weight. He has no concept of what team sports are all about. It's completely foriegn to him.

As for Jim, his real name is Dick Gary, he is truly a mental case. Dick has been mentally unstable his entire life and I really think Finebaum considers him knowledgable. I know Dick's family, well respected folks, must cringe everytime they hear him on the radio. The fact that Finebaum gives this type of person any credibility at all speaks volumes about Finebaum's credibility.

Paul's writers are already working on how to spin that. :D
That would be funny, if weren't so true.

I remember picking up the newspaper a week or so ago and reading the Bama had sold out all home games this season. I instantly wondered how Finebaum would turn that information into a negative, then just laughed it off. When I tuned into his show that afternoon, you guessed it, he was ripping Alabama for announcing a sellout. He kept it up for two days, atleast he did during the brief times that I channel surfed through his show.

I used to work do work for Bob Lochamy, for those of you that are familiar with his previous sidekick. "Don from downtown" would call Bob and Bob would give him issues to call in about. I would imagine someone from the Finebaum staff is doing the same.

Jim from Tuscaloosa used to call in and complain that Stallings would not throw a pass crap on the 10 win a season record and say "Paul 10-3 aint gonna cut it at Bama, and losing in the SEC title game to Florida isnt enough" all the time. He bashed stallings all the time. He was the biggest Dubose supporter and explained how Dubose would bring "bear" back to the capstone and take them to the next level.

He is a idiot. Bobby from homewood is more of a non Bama fan than a true Auburn fan. he is obsesed with Bama. Same with steve from forest park. They try anything anti Bama and run with it.

I can't believe we have a two page thread about Finebaum and his callers, and (unless I accidentally overlooked it in someone's post), no one has mentioned the infamous Phyliss! ;)

PF says what is convienient at the time. PF would say Pat Dye was the "greatest coach" Auburn ever had; then next week PF would call him 'coach choke." The same for just about any subject he covers. Why let him get to you? He is on both sides of the fence. You don't like what he says this week, wait 'till next week and you will love him.

Finebaum is just a high paid hypocrite. He makes fun of recruiting and then he's the only sportscaster, back in the day, to lead with the signing of David Payne, remember him? He makes fun of recruiting, then Bama signs kids they think will be great, and he's makes fun of Bama for not signing the high profile guys. That's just a couple of examples, but plain and simple, hypocrite. The only reason he dogs Shula and Bama is because they won't bow down and give him interviews everyday like ears down the road. Shula takes care of his family and team, Finebaum wants him at his beckon call.

Some of you are taking PF too seriously. His talk show is successful because people listen to his program--if he couldn't sell ad time, clear channel would cut him loose in a heartbeat, and you can take that to the bank. I listen to him because I do think he is entertaining and I really think he does try to look at both us and the barn objectively.

Objectively? Paul doesn't look at anyone objectively, he just jumps on whichever wagon stops by to polish his dome. And to deflect all the backlash at him, he brings in some stooges during the week, to express his nonsense for him, then agrees with them, which he is really agreeing with himself.
