Cold Mountain

Anyone read this book ? It was recommended to me by a friend on a backpacking trip . I have it reserved at the library when it ' s returned . Just curious about opinions . After this one I ' m going to reread " Lonesome Dove ."

I ' ve read it . It was very good . I took special interest in it as my Dad is from the area that the book ' s setting was in .

A VERY good book , PellCity . Worth the wait . And Lonesome Dove is among the top five best books I have read in my lifetime .

I finally have the book and am about half way through it. Let's see, I enjoyed Lonesome Dove, LOTR, and am a backpacker. This book is about...a long, cross-country trip. I have really enjoyed it so far. It ties in just enough Civil War stuff to make it interesting.

I'm already planning my hiking trip to climb the actual Cold Mountain, elev 6030'.
