Bumping this so our new posters can have a look.

First off, welcome. This forum isn't like most and we're okay with that. We've zero tolerance for profanity on TF, including abbreviations, substituting letters, numbers, etc to bypass profanity filters, etc.

If you shouldn't say it in an elementary school classroom it doesn't belong here, as we attract fans of all ages.

This is not up for debate.

Hope you enjoy your time with us.

We are keeping the football forum as a family oriented message board therefore we have banned profanity in any thread. It goes on to include profanity in any link you might want to post. Disclaimers or warnings that profanity is included is not allowed. What do we consider profanity? Pretty much everything George Carlin said you can't say on public TV. We don't even want any of the creative misspellings of certain words. Swear words such as Damn we should have scored on that drive or that was one Hell of a team we played this week is not a problem. We use a profanity filter which catches most words but if we see someone who keeps getting **** or ***** in their posts we may have to have a meeting with you. Let's keep it clean, keep it classy and remember some of the members here let their 10 year old daughters read this forum.

Also, as a reminder, the season is here so it's time that the 'looser' approach to thread subject that's we've had over the offseason 'time period in which no games are being played' tightens up. Keep thread subjects on college football.

Let's enjoy another special season of Alabama Football!

I'll keep saying "thanks" as long as the board maintains this principled approach to profanity. I appreciate it so much!

Now, Roll Tide Roll into another great season!

Reminder: we have a zero tolerance for profanity on tidefans - if you have to use creative spelling, etc to post something, you best not do it. We're in the middle of the football season and therefore have even less tolerance than the off-season, so if you break this rule, expect a 'vacation'.

To creative spellings, I would add (1) use of symbols or numbers as a substitute for real letters, and (2) cute transposition / re-arrangement of syllables.

Actually to me those are a bit worse because it's clear the poster knew what he was doing was off limits, put some thought into how best to evade the filter, and posted anyway.

Since we are here. Let’s also avoid “the sky is falling” posts during game threads especially. But even in other threads, please try to not preach the gloom and doom to a point of distraction. Make your point and move on.

Behavioral "offseason' bump

The season is largely over, which means we find ourselves without tons of information about CFB for some time. This does NOT mean we're relaxing our rules, specifically those regarding profanity. If you think you shouldn't post it, don't.

Let me further add that we've seen in influx of new posters this season - while TideFans has grown tremendously over the years, we aren't the place for everyone. If you're the type that won't adhere to the rules, it's best that you move along to another forum. Further, some of our older posters have been drawn into petty arguments that do NOTHING to add useful content to the threads. If you don't have the discipline to keep threads on topic and not take shots at each other, we mods have a solution for you (though I very much doubt you'll like it as much as if you just show some self-control...).

Stick to the rules and we'll have no problems.

RTR!
