Newton, who is skipping his senior year to enter the NFL draft, said his legacy at Auburn should go something like this:
"Here's a young man that was very resilient, and left it all out there on the field. I tried to be the best. Any athlete that is a competitor doesn't play the game just to play the game. I played ... to try to be the best."
I just saw CN's above quote as to how he wants to be remembered at the barn. He won the Heisman and led the barn to a 14-0 record this season in less than his one year on the plains. Regardless of whether those records stand, I wouldn't trade him for GM's contributions to the University of Alabama on, or off, the field this last year. CN has been a national embarrassment to auburn and to anyone with an IQ above room temperature and living outside of area code #334. He brought a record of lying, cheating, stealing and a total self centered attitude to a pathetic, desperate group of supporters that called him a hero. It was a perfect match. He most likely never attended a class this last semester. His primary contact with the student body was jumping into the stands where they adored him. Based on his above self proclaimed legacy he totally ignores the accomplishments of the "team". He only used them to carry him around on their shoulders after games. His published interview stating he "missed his preferred choice of being in Florida" was accepted by those who worshipped him on the plains. Only an idiot would accept the explanation that he didn't know of his father's pfp scheme. Regardless, anyone who thinks he found his dad in the stands immediately after the MNC game without foreknowledge of his locations is completely foolish. His final exit on the football field to embrace his dad at the game was at best an slap in the face to the "mutally agreed upon" understanding with aburn. CN understood the concept of "all in" and aubrun seemed to love it.
GM meanwhile was leading our program with class and dignity. He was working on his masters having graduated with his undergraduate degree in three years. He was selected a finalist as Rhodes Scholar. He, and his parents, made numerous contributions to the University and community. How deeply did GM love the University of Alabama?....his younger sister from Texas will start classes this fall. God bless GM for what he has given us. I wouldn't trade it for another MNC or another Heisman trophy and I surely wouldn't trade him for CN.
GM added to the proud Tradition that is uniquely the University of Alabama. CN only added more trash to the ever growing pile of cr** that aubrun seems to be so comfortable living in. Both of us got exactly what we deserved.
