Bama is 2011 BCS Champs not 2012 (merchandise related)

I'm seeing a lot of Bama championship merchandise that has the BCS logo on it that has 2012 instead of 2011.

The 2012 champs may be Bama (after Miami next year), but I'd prefer to wait and see before I buy it. :wink:

Just a "word up" of notice before you buy something with the wrong year on it.

But the logo usually has the date played which was 2012. Not a problem I believe.

I'm looking at the mural of pictures from the 1992 team. They won the 1993 Sugar Bowl. Alabama just won the 2012 BCS National Championship game.

It was the 2012 BCS championship game, but 'Bama is the 2011 national champions.
I made a boo boo a year or so ago when I got Marcel Dareus to autograph a jersey with the inscription "2009 BCS MVP"... which in reality, he was the 2010 BCS MVP and Alabama was the 2009 National champions... really wish I hadn't made that mistake, but I'll live with it.

Sorry I was unclear. You are correct that the BCS logo for this year is 2012, but I thought I saw an item or two for sale in the last week or so that said Bama was the 2012 National Champion.

I know there's a not of non-sanctioned apparel being printed. Those are the most likely ones to make that mistake.

So we can say we won the 2010 BCS National Championship Game and we are also year 2011 National Champions. That sounds good to me. :smile:

It's the 2011 season. We won the 2011 National Championship. It just works out that the championship game is in early 2012. All of the merchandise I have seen including the official logo reads 2011.

This drives me nuts, too! If you try to google anything championship related, type in 2011 and see what frequently pops up. Hint-----think cow patties.

This is why I say we should start the college football season sometime in January and have the championship game sometime in December. That way there would be no confusion and we would have football all year long. Sounds like a perfect scenario to me!:biggrin2:

Not that hard to understand. Bama won the 2011 National Championship in the 2012 BCS Championship Game. Same thing happened after the 2009 Season. Bama won the 2009 National Championship by winning the 2010 BCS Championship Game.

We know Alabama is the 2011 National Champion by winning the 2012 BCS National Championship game. Another question ponder - is Bama the 2011 BCS champions or the 2012 BCS champions?
