since someone upthread asked why males have nipples . . .

the rest of the article is interesting as well and is about the evolutionary mystery of the female orgasm

The “by-product” hypothesis points, however, to a powerful metaphor: the case of male nipples. Men don’t lactate, so why do they have nipples? The classic and almost certainly correct answer is: because women have nipples, and they lactate, and the complex developmental pathway during human embryology that eventually gives rise to nipples in women necessarily engenders nipples in men, too, where they are unnecessary, unselected for, and even downright silly.

Although no one claims that orgasms are silly, those who deny adaptational status maintain that they are like male nipples, without biological significance in themselves, and that they exist only because they are tightly bound to something strongly selected for in the opposite sex.

That belief? Chance versus design.
.
.
.
So, coming back to the whole God versus Evolution debate, the bottom line is what you choose to believe in: chance or design.
Dismissal of evolutionary theory as being "pure chance" is knocking down a straw man. Chance is only part of how evolution works. Mutations (chance) create diversity. Selection on the basis of fitness (the opposite of chance) is what gives evolution a vector, and the appearance of intentionality. Your facile distillation of the essence of the theory of evolution, while a popular view, is inaccurate.

When it comes to spiritual events people will usually choose design since most people are religious and tend to ascribe anything regarding God, angels, the soul, miracles, etc. to God before an alternative solution.
No doubt there is a tendency to do this.

We might start by reading what Jesus Christ had to say about this...You see, there is this book out there....

And I can all but bet this is the beginning of where the disagreements really get heated.

-How do we determine "bad" or "good"?
-We must have a measuring stick, something to compare a "something" to in order to determine if it is "bad" or "good".
-Even "spiritual" people (and I'll go as far and say even professed Christians) do not use the same measuring stick, standard of which to measure by, of what's "bad" or "good".

But this ought to be good anyway.

Wow! I mean...just, wow! People can't recognize good from evil; right from wrong; just from unjust - that's just pathetic ignorance. Look deep into the world of quantum physics and try to think beyond your next BigMac for a moment (impossible for many), and realize that your perceived reality is just an illusion within the severely-limited realm of your understanding...read a little more...think at a level above the average 6th-grader, and then become educated before posting anymore........:rolleye2:
