Big A Re: Latest Bama News 11/5/12

Perhaps nobody can compare the football cultures at Aabama and Texas A&M as well as Gene Stallings. He played for coach Paul Bryant at Texas A&M, then served as an assistant coach under the ďBearĒ at Alabama for seven years (1958-64). Stallings then was the head coach at Texas A&M for seven years (1965-71). He later served seven years as the head coach at Alabama (1990-96). He won the 1992 national championship and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2010. He's looking forward to the 2:30 p.m. CDT game Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium between No. 1 Alabama (9-0, 6-0 SEC) and No. 15 Texas A&M (7-2, 4-2).

The SEC haters will continue to hate. Thatís what happens when a conference has won six straight national championships and receives the kind of national publicity this league does. Thereís a point where enough is enough, and the rest of college football reached that point three or four national championships ago. Is the SEC so dominant that nobody else in college football compares? No Does the SEC catch a bit of a break because it plays just eight conference games? Yes Is the SECís national championship streak going to last forever? No...

No. 1 Alabama survived a Death Valley ambush in Baton Rouge. Auburn got a much-needed confidence boost with a lopsided win over New Mexico State. Ole Miss and Mississippi State took beatings at the hands of Georgia and Texas A&M. How will all this translate a week later? These are this week's five burning questions:Could Alabama be coming home to a trap?

Headlined "Saban Beholds Oregonís Offense, and Does Not See Beauty," the piece repeats a quote by Saban from last month, when he said the no-huddle offense is a "tremendous advantage."Saban was asked today about his comments about the no-huddle and whether it might negatively affect the mindset of his defensive players...

"That was the (most fun) experience Iíve had," Kouandjio said today. "Thatís the (most fun) person Iíve ever played against." Montgomery won a battle or two, but Kouandjio and Alabama ultimately won the war. Montgomery, who is projected to be a top 10 selection in next year's NFL Draft, picked up LSU's only sack, but Kouandjio graded out at a team-best 89 percent.
Kouandjio, who was one of Alabama's seven players of the week, said he and Montgomery exchanged plenty of trash talk throughout the game, but shook hands and left the field with mutual respect for each other.
'We talked our little trash, but it was fun,' Alabama's Cyrus Kouandjio says of facing LSU's Sam Montgomery-al.com
