No, although you have to be licensed in the city of Tuscaloosa to sell. Any person who isn't is taking a risk, although I don't think it's as strictly enforced as some spots. A good friend of mine got arrested for scalping in Ole Miss/Oxford one year.

Can you get in trouble for selling them on ebay? Is is illegal to sell tickets on ebay for more than face value?

That is what I was wondering. How about Stub Hub? Are they legal?

It's all grey area, but I imagine Stub Hub adds an extra level of protection since you're selling to them so they can re-sell.

Again... Tuscaloosa police doesn't really clamp down on it unless it's blatantly done without a license. Licensed ticket sellers on the street wear identification around their necks.

No. Most people I know that sell their tickets do so through eBay, Craigslist, Stub Hub or another online vendor. They've never had issues with selling tickets. I've sold some on eBay before and never had issues.

Local ordinances may require a local business license and limit the place and manner of sales, but otherwise if you've got a license from the state (IIRC it costs $100), scalping is completely legal in Alabama.

Here's an article from the Tuscaloosa News explaining it on a local level:

The issue is if you are buying and reselling as a business and for profit.
