On this week's edition of the Nick Saban Radio Show, Saban talks about this Saturday's game against Texas A&M, AJ McCarron's pro prospects, the color of the grass at Bryant-Denny Stadium, and more. Coach Saban also answers some of the questions you submitted here on al.com earlier this week.
In addition to hosting nearly a dozen of the Tide's currently committed players, Alabama will also welcome several top uncommitted visitors as well as a few that are currently committed to other schools but may still be considering the Crimson Tide.
Edges: Breaking down Alabama-Texas A&M position by position-al.comJohnny Football and the Aggies are a well-deserved, hot story coming into Saturday's showdown at Alabama. In its first year as an SEC team, Texas A&M is already playing with house money, as it's piled up points by the bundle and won seven of its first nine games. At this point, I'd think Alabama is more than content with sharing a good portion of the national spotlight. Let's see how this matchup breaks down.
Nice little piece.Earlier this week, he pointed you toward nice comments Phillips Sims made about former Alabama teammate AJ McCarron. Sims told reporters he still tries to catch Alabama games when he can and has enjoyed seeing McCarron have success. "This is a guy who I feel should be in the conversation for the Heisman Trophy," said Sims, who is now Virginia's starting quarterback.
The University of Alabama's offensive line returned four starters from a national championship team - including last year's Outland Trophy winner and two others who joined him on the pr...

Sherrill now lives in Wimberly, Texas, just southwest of Austin, and he's as interested in the 2:30 p.m. CST game Saturday between No. 1 Alabama and No. 15 Texas A&M at Bryant-Denny Stadium. We caught up with Sherrill this week. Here are his answers to our questions. ...
Top-ranked Alabama will try to get its defense back to its dominating ways today when the Tide hosts the Aggies. The Tide gave up a season-high 435 yards in last week's 21-17 win over LSU, and Texas A&M offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury figures Alabama's defense isn't the type to give up that kind of production often. "What's remarkable is that they lost basically an entire NFL team last year and they came back this year and are No. 1 and are the No. 1 scoring defense in the nation with nine points a game," Kingsbury said. "It just says volumes about the coaches and what they do with recruiting and schematically. Their schemes are great and they have great athletes."
There’s no rest for the weary. Top-ranked Alabama was pushed to the brink at LSU last week, but the Tide can’t celebrate. Texas A&M’s high-octane, no-huddle offense visits Bryant-Denny Stadium today. The Aggies are overdue for a break. This will be their 10[SUP]th[/SUP] game without a bye – and fifth road test in the past six weeks.
More than Manziel: Alabama defense wary of entire A&M offense as it looks for bounceback performance-al.comAll Sumlin’s teams have done since he became a head coach in 2008 is put up yards and points at a clip few have been able to match. His first year at Houston, the Cougars were second in the nation with an average of 563 yards per game. They were first in 2009 and 2011. In 2010, without his starting quarterback, Houston plummeted -- relatively, of course -- to 11th.In his first year at Texas A&M, the Aggies rank fifth in total offense, averaging 308 yards through the air and another 251 on the ground. Simply put, No. 1 Alabama, which can clinch the SEC West and a spot in the SEC Championship with one more win, will have to contend with more than just Johnny Football when it faces Sumlin’s high-octane offense Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
Speaking of the Heisman, this would have been the ideal week to get Manziel's pregame thoughts considering another Heisman candidate, Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron, will be on the opposite sideline Saturday. What does Manziel think of McCarron and that game-winning drive the Tide QB put together last week against LSU? Or what about the Aggies' fast-break offense matching up against Alabama's intimidating defense? Does he think his unconventional style and improvisational skills will give the Aggies a chance at the upset? We'll never know. Sumlin jokingly said his No. 1 concern in preparing Manziel for the big matchup is to "keep him away from talking to you guys."
