    Wouldn't Saban be making $6 million and $1 if this ended up being true, or was that another coach's pay that had to be $1 above the highest in the nation?

    Pretty sure those contracts are based on a particular goal, as in "win the BCSNC and you will be the highest paid coach at that time by $x".

    Otherwise if two people had that in their contract they would automatically escalate infinitely.
