I think if you expand into ACC territory, it should be flagship type schools, not the little brothers or tech schools.

The ACC really has no options at this point. All the good Universities are spoken for. When you're targeting Louisville, you're at the bottom of what can be defined as the "big boy" barrel. Louisville is the end of the line, IMO. And the ACC can't poach any conference above it on the ladder. Kill or be killed, and I'm afraid the ACC is about to become dinner for the others.

Not that it matters, but apparently Tulane has joined the Big East in all sports.

Found this gem on another message board

    Three distinct messages there:

Louisville says "We're doing the best we can with a really bad situation, and there is no good solution."

Uconn says "We needed to replace Maryland so we went and got the biggest irrelevant jerks out there."

Navy says "We quit, big time sports is simply not for us."

Agreed. My hope is that we end up in the SEC, but I'm not all that optimistic. Our president is a big proponent of becoming an AAU member and (my opinion only) I think he would choose the B1G if the choice were his to make. But even that would be preferable to being part of the eastern half of the tu conference, or (worse) being stuck in whatever ends up being left of the ACC/Big Least.

I am so glad for Tulane, now LSU is not the only school in LA in a BCS automatic conference. I wonder how this will affect recruiting in the state.

Agreed. The Big East has simply become the new C-USA. Nothing more, nothing less.

If they join 2013, they only have 1 year in the BCS conference... If they join in 2014, they will fall into the new "group of five" designation... Either way, they get no real benefit from moving

Made for TV... UNC v Minnesota, UNC v Northwestern... Yeah that gets the heart stirring. UNC v UT, UNC v USC, UNC v UGA now we are talking... If UNC or UVA move to the Big 10 I think it will be a big failure in terms of market appeal. Hopefully someone in the media is telling these schools that such a move doesnt make sense compared to a geographic and cultural move to the SEC. Get 10 miles outside of town in VA or NC and almost everyone is just like what you would find in traditional SEC states.

I'm not sure what we are supposed to offer North Carolina. All we can say is "See this big pile of money? If you and your friend join, you each get 1/16 of it. Just like everybody else.".

I think that's all you really need offer, honestly.
