    Analyze Auburn

    I haven't watched Auburn sense their shellacking at the hands of the Aggies. I've heard they have made some changes but haven't seen anything of it. Can someone give a breakdown of Auburn's team based on recent games?

    They beat 2 teams they should habe beat and got whacked by Georgia. They still stink although I think they will put up a fight for about a quarter or so Saturday. As soon as we get a 2 touchdown lead they will fold and mail in the rest of the game.

    I think they put in that freshman QB as well since then.

    My mother gets the Decatur Daily, and a guy always does grades for each area of the game. He gave Auburn all I's for incomplete because there was no way to gauge this game (the AM game). Haha. I thought that was funny.

    Barn = Train Wreck!

    Actually, I haven't watched them much at all. But I do expect them to throw caution out the window against us - fake punts and field goals (if they get that close to our goal line), on-side kick-offs, etc. We should stay in safe mode for all these, IMO. We should also watch out for those chop blocks - I hear they're pretty good at those.

    I would think auburn would only have 1 opportunity to try an on-side kick. That would be at either the start of the 1st or 3rd quarter. Most of their experience in kickoffs is in receiving, not kicking.

    They have gone with freshman Jonathan Wallace at QB. He has been more efficient than the other two, but they are just a terrible team on both sides of the ball.

    I hope the Bama players are taking this game more serious than that. It's more than likely Cheez its last game there. This team is reading the same stuff we are. They probably will throw everything they have at this game, this is their season right here. I didn't think Baylor would have beaten Kansas the way they did. It can happen any week folks, whether it's Auburn or not.

    Re: Analyze Auburn

    They're better now offensively than earlier in the season with Wallace at QB. Still, it is late in the season so I think the growth in the offense Wallace needs is not there to legitimately put it to Alabama. They may have won a few more games with this kid at quarterback for the whole season...still we're talking about 4-7 or 5-6 compared to 3-8.

    Defensively, they are pretty aggressive up front in the mold of Texas A&M but their situation in the secondary is far, FAR worse. I think our offense will move the ball effectively against them with Cooper or Bell have a few big downfield catches. If we can keep offensive balance, they will struggle because they can only really have a chance if we struggle in one component of the offense.

    Auburn is very good on special teams. They may be the best all-around unit we'll see from kicking specialists to returners. They will certainly try to steal points in this area. I have my doubts it will be anywhere near enough, but they will test us here.

    In the final analysis, an Alabama team at home needing a win to get into the glorified national semi-final in Atlanta is going to be too much for any rivalry motivation from Auburn. Alabama needs to just play loose but smart with the football. Auburn will put some fight up but I imagine the legitimate possibility of Ben Howell getting a last-hurrah Rudy moment touchdown being very good come the fourth quarter.

    Should not even be close. Better not be. I don't want to live it down.

    I also think the barn has solidified its team a little. Not that Alabama A&m is a guage, but they played with better cohesion and effectiveness last weekend. Don't forget that AU still has the athletes to compete with any team. It's just a matter of putting it together. It could come at any time. They competed with LSU.
    Having said that, we should beat them, but lets not forget they have the talent to be a top 15 team still.
