I don't see a thread already so what is everyones thoughts about how we line up against UGA?

My two cents....they seem to be a pretty solid team who matches up pretty well against us. If Murray has time to throw and gets in a rhythm I see a long night for Bama.

I especially worry about our secondary and pass rush against UGA.

I know we beat awbrin bad but one thing I noticed and also noticed in the aTm game. #61 gets beat on inside slants by the DL A LOT and very easy. If it weren't for good moves and cuts by Lacy and Yeldon we'd had several runs for losses today. He is very slow on his reach block or lateral movement to get to the block when the DL slants to the interior of the line. I'm sure the UGA staff will see this on tape.

Also, our defense simply isn't as good as last year. We still cannot get pressure, be it by the DL'men or with blitzes. The seam route in on the hash marks seems to be the "soft spot" in our pass defense.

I fully expect UGA to use the approach LSU used against us. Can we adjust? We'll see.

I'll just say this is going to be a tough one.

Gawga probably has the best offense we've been up against this year. (They don't have a Manziel, but Murray is a much better pocket passer.) They have a pretty good OL, at least 2 very good RB's and at least 1 very good WR.

I believe they have a very good defense and maybe the best we've faced this year. That #29 at LB is a stud. The DL is very good and will cause us some problems up the middle. The DB's are also very good.

I look forward to seeing how Jess's write up compares the two teams. They just may be leading us in the categories that he covers.

I think Gawga should be the favorite by about 5.

Bama just may have to play their most complete game this year to win.

I'm really looking forward to JessN's preview of this game. I can't see these two teams as anything other than evenly matched. I think our team is more disciplined than theirs and that is why you see some struggles on their résumé like the Kentucky game. I tend to believe that is why we ultimately win but it won't be easy.

Also, we just can't afford to lose any more players! Has any team in the country lost the number of outstanding players that we have this year? Not Noter D. or Gawga!

I think that both teams match up pretty evenly. It's going to be a battle.

I'm worried about our pass defense, especially without a consistent pass rush.

Imo, they should be worried about our running attack and physicality up front.

It will come down to execution and avoiding mistakes.

Ga. is a great team playing against lessor teams.
Ga. is capable of playing winning football, but will they?
Murray is a great QB if he has time...
Ga. has receivers that can hurt you too.
BUT...
IMO: Ga. is a pretender.
Ga. benefited from not playing Alabama, LSU, ect this year. They had an easy schedule for a ride to the SEC East title.
Ga. benefited from playing TAMU early, before they caught fire...

I don't believe Ga. is as physical as LSU.
I don't believe Ga. is as fast as TAMU.

I was wrong about TAMU, but I don't see Ga. winning.
Either way the SEC winner should beat ND.

You know, I would imagine our coaches will look at what South Carolina did against UGA.

If we can force a couple of turnovers I think we win. Gonna be close.

I don't think we matchup well. The teams that gave them the most problems could rush the passer effectively...something we haven't displayed against any quality opponents.

They worry me as well...
Earle, did you catch what Danielson said about the different type rushes Saban uses for his DL? He said Saban uses a "mush rush" a lot. Basically the DL isn't necessarily trying to get penetration. I didn't catch the rest of what he said because I had to get up and keep my two year old from climbing on the kitchen table. But our lack of pass rush doesn't bode well for us against Murray.

Interesting Numbers. This leads me to believe both teams are pretty close as a whole. Will come down to who comes out lighter and faster. We come out like we did against TAMU, expect an L. We come out firing expect a W. Will come down to turnovers IMO. Hopefully the "been there before" provides Bama the edge if it is a close game.

Yes, I did. If Murray is on, it won't work. We'll have easy completions like Mediumwellburger got on us. We must manufacture more pressure. At certain points, it just doesn't seem that our DL+Jack is really making moves to try to get into the backfield...

I actually thought the 2nd string got more pressure today than the starters!

Some observations which many of you have touched on, but my 2 cents worth:

1. GT seemed to handle the much larger DL of GA. I do not know if this can be translated into Bama having same success with the different blocking schemes of GT.
2. Bama will certainly force GA to stay honest with a balanced attach of run/pass.
3. Georgia has more speed and athlettes than anyone we have played this year.
4. Aaron Murray does concern me with our secondary seeming to be lot more cautious during recent games.

GA is the dirtiest team in the SEC. They have the biggest mouth as well. Reminds me of the Hurricanes in the Late 80's & 90's.

We need to hit them hard right off the bat to win this one.

And I want someone to explain to me all the stuff Fanning got drug thru by the media on the Mizzou tackle & GA did the exact same yesterday not a word!

We did not match well with The U in 92 with a Heisman QB & the Awsome posey, saw how that turned out.

My initial opinion is that both teams have a boat load of talent. Offensively looks to be dead even, I would give UGA the advantage on defense due to a better secondary. Special teams is a push. We have the advantage in coaching. Both teams have played 2 quality opponents this season and both are 1-1 in those games. So it really comes down to which teams show up. This reminds me of last year's LSU game with no clear favorite.

UGA's offensive line has not been that impressive in run blocking. The team has not been able to run against quality opponents. If it can establish the run against us, we are in for a long night. If we can find some way to apply pressure to Murray, then I like our chances.

No pass rush will spell doom for Bama. I've got Bama as the underdog in this one. GA is a horrible matchup problem but Bama does have one huge advantage and the is CNS. The gameplan may be the difference and you saw a glimpse of it yesterday. Lets just say we will find out how well-conditioned the UGA defense is.
