You know I think DS is unreliable, but the following exchange occurred. It will be rerun today at 2:40 pm. First they talked about the money to be bet on Alabama, but the Auburn situation was the focal point.
Tim: ...came out with the bag man story on Cam Newton, you were vilified by a lot of people in our industry in the aftermath of it all. Now we see Auburn by way of a Pat Forde report.....there is in fact an investigation. And I believe you were at a speaking engagement in Tuscaloosa a couple of weeks earlier stating that Curtis Looper and Trooper Taylor had been pulled off of the recruiting trails.
DS: I also said - nothing against Pat, he's a good reporter, I don't know him personally - I also said and I hate to ruin Yahoo sports dot party, but I broke that story October 29 in Tuscaloosa, saying not only did they take them off the road but they were under major investigation and I thought they were gonna get a letter - they WILL get a letter - of inquiry. And my friends told me when they skated on Cam Newton - now whether Cam Newton was paid or not I don't know - but every place I've ever spoken including Auburn fans, no one has come up to me and spoken and said, "That's crazy as hell, he didn't get paid." the bottom line is when they skated on Cam Newton for whatever reason - because the witness would not talk at the church - the NCAA told me "we have a witness at the church," didn't talk, no case. They said they were gonna them about a year later. Not get them like a personal vendetta, but "we are gonna get them on everything." And Tim, I don't like to see it, I don't like to see any school in this conference go on probation especially in my poor state that is worth millions of dollars. But the bottom line is they're gonna get hit with some serious charges and we're not talking about 1 or 1. We are talking about whether it's a recruit in Miami or whether it's a recruit in Chicago or whethe it's a recruit in Alabama, Georgia. And I don't know if they're guilty or not but - and it's gonna be the coaches, the assistant coaches that are gonna have to face the music.
TB: Yeah. Do you sense that this was - thus investigation that is ongoing - that was reported by Pat Forde.
(brief cross talk exchange as Sheridan takes credit for it)
TB: But my point is - is it your feeling that this investigation that has now officially been launched, was initiated by their investigation of the Cam Newton issue that never really became solvent? That...
DS: One HUNDRED percent
TB: Ok..ok, without question
DS: 100%, anybody tells you differently well...you can connect the dots.
TB: Well, who are they gonna be able to hire now - Auburn with all this going on?
DS: Well, I was told for a fact that the money men want Bobby Petrino (lists candidates including Smart & Malzahn, says the new coach will need a long deal with possible sanctions coming).......but I believe Auburn will get hit with some kind of probation and it could be pretty serious so... (praises Auburn)
Remember it's Sheridan - believe at your own risk.
