Link Barry Alvarez to coach Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl

If God wanted me to be humble, he would have sent me to Auburn.

That's actually pretty cool. There's not many AD's who could pull that off but I think Alvarez can do it.

Alvarez is undefeated (3-0) in the Rose Bowl; Bielema is winless (0-2).

Of course, this is a different Pac-10/12 than Alvarez' days.

I wonder how much actual coaching he'll be doing.

I wonder if he winds up getting the Chris Ault or Bill Snyder itch and winds up coming back full time as HC.

That was half of my prediction after the Bielema-Ark, Malzahn-Aub news. Alvarez to coach Rose Bowl. Other half of that prediction was Kirby Smart to Wisconsin as Head Coach.

There's a story up on MrSEC saying that one reason Bielema wanted out at Wisconsin was he was tired of working in Alvarez's shadow.

Personally, I think it's an awesome idea. If nothing else, it will sell a lot of school tickets for the bowl game, saving/earning millions of dollars. For Alvarez, it's a win-win scenario. If he wins, he's a hero. If he loses, he was just filling in for a game because of Judas. And, if he finds he still has the desire to coach, he can move back to HC for a while. I'm hoping he doesn't stay, and that they hire away Chryst from Pitt despite the $6M buyout.
