The pone on Friday was behind a firewall..

Take a moment to look away from the fire raining down outside your windows. Try to focus over the howling of your pets. Turn off the utter meltdown on the 24-hour-news networks and enjoy the final moments of the apocalypse. The Mayans were right. The reckoning is upon us and all that's left to do is read this lousy obituary. We're all goners: you, your neighbors, that guy at the supermarket who remembered your preference of paper over plastic. Even Alabama football is gone. It's a shame really, with the national championship just 17 days away. Would there have been a better place to ride out the end of days than Miami? That's what we're here to document. We've got the Crimson Tide. Leave the rest to the vultures.

Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban said there is no way his offense can avoid Irish linebackerManti Te'o, and the Tide don't plan to scheme away from the Heisman Trophy finalist during the BCS national championship game."The style of player that he is, there's no rhyme or reason," Saban said of Te'o. "He can take on blocks, he's physical, he's tough and very instinctive and he runs well and covers the field well. There's no saying, 'OK, we're going to run at the guy' or 'We're going to run away from the guy' because he's effective either way. That's why he's such a good player."

But will the vaunted front seven of the Fighting Irish slow down Alabama's two-headed rushing attack featuring 1,000-yard backs Eddie Lacy and T.J. Yeldon? Barrett Sallee, Marc Kohn, Adam Kramer, Michael Felder and Elika Sadeghi preview the Notre Dame defense vs. the Alabama offense in this edition of "The Program."
