From 1988-2012 both teams have the same #of losses: 98. Thanks to the textbook scandal, ND has more wins 206-194.

Why start in '88? Because it fits your purposes, maybe? Nothing about ND over the past 25 years interest me. I have occasionally slowed down and rolled down my windows to get a look at that train wreck of a program. Other than that...

what's your point?? it sounds like you are trying hard to make it appeared that in spite of ND 25 years of mediocrity, the fighting irish are on par with Bama in the last 20 years or so. in case you forgot, the NCAA has a true disdain for the Tide during the late 90's and in 2007 which is just the complete opposite for their beloved golden domers. and despite those setbacks and probation years, Bama was still alive and kicking. since you brought up 1988, Bama has 3 NCs since that time and is working on #4. those are the only numbers that really matter in Tuscaloosa!!

That certainly is an.. odd... time frame. Seems to me you're actively making sure to include ND's only championship year in recent history (1988). To me, I usually aim for round numbers. Like 1992-2012, for a 20 year perspective.

ND - 163-91-2 - .641
UA - 157-87-0 - .643

The biggest difference, of course, is that over that time frame Alabama has 3 National Championships (92, 09, 11) to ND's 0. ND came close in 1993, finishing 2nd.

Or I could say "In my lifetime", which would start in 1977.

ND - 285-144-4, .663, 2 NC (1977, 1988)
UA - 294-128-2, .696, 5 NC (1978, 1979, 1992, 2009, 2011)

If I was 1 year younger, ND loses half their titles.

I'm sorry, but 1988 is arbitrary in regards to being "Notre Dame's last year they won it all". What's that mean to Alabama?

To add to the topic (whatever there is to add). Since end of November Alabama has more wins than Notre Dame. Signs and portents? I think so.

Why are we treating ND with so little respect? They're a historic program, just like Bama. We may have had more success in the last couple of decades, but come on, let their fans have their say too. ;)

All that matters is what happens Jan 7th.
