    Bama Sleeping Arrangements

Media (ESPN) is making a huge deal about the team staying at a swanky hotel in the middle of a ton of distractions, and ND staying 15 minutes away where there are no tvs, newspapers, or radios. My question is where has Bama stayed in past years and is CNS switching this up from a previous routine? If this should be lumped with a previous thread my apologies.

There are a few posts about this in the "worried" thread. I think the Orange Bowl committee decides the hotels, not the schools.

We stayed minutes from Bourbon Street last year and still managed to turn in the most dominant BCS Championship Game performance of all time. These "distractions," are a media made story-line.
Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice? Congratulations, you'd probably make a pretty good con-man.

they have been talking about the nd bama matchup for over a month. they ran out of useful analysis about 3.5 weeks ago.

Coaches know their teams. CGS knew he had a few he needed to keep away from the party in 93, and CNS knows how this team handles distractions. He's decided it isn't an issue and I trust his judgement on it.

Serious question. What do the players get to do in the days leading up to the game? I know they don't sit in their rooms all day, and I know they do have places they have to be. I read where both teams will be visiting an area hospital. That's awesome.

    Re: Bama Sleeping Arrangements

We used to live about seven miles from the stadium in Pembroke Pines, FL. But it was about a 30 minute drive down University Drive with all the red lights.

I can't think of a (safe) hotel within 15 minutes of Carol City unless you jump on the FL Turnpike and go north to the Seminole Hard Rock Casino (where Anna Nicole Smith croaked).

Teams usually stay in Ft. Lauderdale around the 17th St. Causeway area.

They have a tight schedule of practices, meetings, press interviews, charitable/community visits, meals, scheduled fun, and very little unscheduled time. What unscheduled time they do have is limited and curfewed.

I believe ND us staying at the Westin Diplomat in Ft. Lauderdale. Also a nice place with Bar in the lobby ans some nice watering establishments in close proximity. At the end of the day, these are college aged young men. If they want to be distracted or partake in extracurricular activities they will. Short of posting a team representative at every bar/liquor store within a 15 mile radius there is little you could do to stop them. At some point we just have to trust our players to do the right thing... which I DO.

    Re: Bama Sleeping Arrangements

Bama is staying at the Fontainbleau Miami Beach which is located in mid-beach and not in south beach.

    http://www.fontainebleau.com/

"The legendary Fontainebleau Miami Beach is “the” resort where James Bond and Goldfinger played a game of gin rummy, where Frank and The Rat Pack played and where Elvis was really “in the building,” This iconic playground to the stars is back and more alluring than ever. Through the 1950s and 1960s, Fontainebleau was the place to be and seemed to host the who's who in entertainment, including Bob Hope, Lucille Ball, Jackie Gleason, Judy Garland, Milton Berle, Jerry Lewis, Marlene Dietrich, Debbie Reynolds and many others. "

I think that Bama has enough focus to know how to handle themselves. Kids can get in trouble anywhere if they want to.
