    Big A Alabama "cardinal"

Much is being made about the slight uniform changes for the BCS title game. I wonder how many folks realize Alabama has been donning cardinal, not crimson, for years now? We can thank Nike for that!

The official color is listed as Pantone (PMS) 201, according to the University: CLICK

Alabama picked the shade of red. Anyone can call it whatever they like, but if they're using the correct shade, it's our Crimson.

Raj: How do you know that?
Howard: He was Italian, it's a reasonable assumption.
Raj: Dude, can you even open your mouth without saying a cultural stereotype?
Howard: I'm sorry Galileo drank diet sprite!

    I'll finish that thought.

.....can't we wait 5 more days to really get in depth on the uniforms?

You guys have to save some topics for the loooong off season. Rookies.

Cardinal is 200 so any resemblance is understandable.

Not that it matters, but I can remember the unis from the 60`s and 70`s. I`ve thought for a while now that the colors were a deeper shade back then. Any of the "old timers" have a similar recollection or is it just my imagination?

Here's a picture of some of the 1967 team. Looks very similar to the color today, but you can decide for yourself.

You are correct. In fact, our shade wasn't really that far off what MS St. was using. (Theirs has gotten darker, ours lighter.) That was the fifties. We really started lightening in the late 60s...
