Re: Is Fluker not projected as a top 5 tackle?

Fluker is going to move up the list of Tackles quickly when the combines start. I think he may be as high as the 2nd maybe 3rd OT to get his name called. He wont make it out of the first round either way.

Is Fluker not projected as a top 5 tackle?

I think his pass blocking is what is holding him back. He's a road grader in run blocking.

Which is why is might end up being a guard before all is said and done.

Re: Is Fluker not projected as a top 5 tackle?

I think he made progress as the year went on in terms of his pass blocking. Run blocking is still his strong suit but there will be concerns about his pass blocking. Love the big guy and will miss him but I'm just saying the pass blocking issue will be a concern for most NFL GM types. I'll be surprised if he's a 1st rounder. I think 2nd round is more likely. He's still going to be a wealthy young man this Spring.

his weaknesses at pass blocking are a bit exaggerated, there were a few times blitzes got free on the right side, weren't always his fault. He handled LSU's d line pretty well. Run blocking is obviously his strong suit but to hear some people talk he never blocked a pass rusher in his life, which is ridiculous considering how much time AJ had in the pocket at times this year.

Somebody will take a chance on him in the first round. I'd be surprised if he slipped into the second and third rounds.

He weighed in at 355 today at the Senior Bowl.

    From Daniel Jeremiah (@MoveTheSticks):

DJ Fluker--most impressive prospect at SR Bowl weigh-ins. (6'4 7/8) 355 w/ 36 3/8 inch arms. Not sloppy, just massive!

Gil Brandt has him at #16. I think there is no doubt he goes in the 1st round.

Oh I think he has improved dramatically over the years in pass blocking. He was solid this season. I think a lot of the question marks come from early in his career.

walterfootball.com is a good site with draft projections. DJ will go high, but it won't neccessarily be with the idea that he will play Left Tackle. Left Tackle is the money position.

I dogged on him, early on. He improved more than anyone else on the roster, I believe.

he is also still developing his craft as an offensive tackle. it's not like he came up through high school at that position. imagine him with a couple years in the NFL under his belt with a good offensive line coach. like others have said, i wouldnt be at all surprised to see someone take him 1st round.
