4. '92, '09, '11, '12. My favorite is '09. I was in kindergarten when we won in '92, so I don't really remember it well. So it was great to see Coach Saban turn the program around after the Shula years and the Barn winning six straight. So that one is really special to me. Not to mention I was sitting on the 5 yard line by the end zone where Upchurch caught the game winner in the Iron Bowl that year.

Well mine started in 1934, the year of my birth, but I will not stretch that by saying I WITNESSED them.
Best one was destroying LSWHO in 2011. Next would be destroying the golden dumbers this last year.

So that would be 12 total with 3 back-to-backs.
Won't call myself the elder statesman either.
Well, he said "in your lifetime," so you can claim it. I certainly don't remember 1941's title or team. In fact, I barely remember 1941 and probably wouldn't at all, if it weren't for Pearl Harbor. Those were terrible years following, sort of like the Whitworth years - lose, lose, lose. My mother was a devoted fan of Gabriel Heatter, with his pessimistic, whining voice every night. You're probably the only one on who may know what I'm talking about...

Another young one here, 6. 78,79,92,09,11,12.

As a young one, my favorite was 09 simply because of revisiting Alabama history by attending the Rose Bowl.

I have been alive for ten: 61-64-65-73-78-79-92-09-11 and 12. My earliest recollection is the 73 team. My fav would have to be the 2011 team because of the way they came out and just manhandled LSU in the BCSNCG after the disappoinment of the Nov loss to LSU. Side note that my daughter has been a student at UA for the last 4 yrs. She graduated in 3 yrs and is now in grad school at UA so she is 3 for 4. I told her she needed to find something else to get another masters in to keep the streak going! ;)

6.I have personally attended the last 3.My favorite had to be the 2011 win over LSU.Dominating the way we did in the Louisiana Superdome was awesome to me.That said, every championship has its own special place to me.Especially the ones I made the trip for.

Same as you.......61-64-65-73-78-79-92-09-011 and 012.

I guess 92 was probably the most gratifying because we were given no chance going into the game.

Same 10 for me as well Sip, but like 1958againbear, I was ecstatic with our bowl victory in 1966. I just KNEW we would be crowned champs after ND played to a tie. Broke my heart when the news came out. Favorite has to be 1992. I was living in Chicago suffering amidst the crows of Michigan and ND fans.
Mom and Dad sent me a leather and suede 'Bama jacket for Christmas - couldn't believe all of the derogatory comments about Alabama I heard while wearing it that winter. Until we beat Miami of course. Afterward it was all "Roll Tide". Silly yanks.

I only remember the last 4. 1992 was my favorite. Almost no one in the entire nation expected us to beat Miami. I think the team and the people in the actual state were the only ones.

I always wanted to see Bama go back to the Rose Bowl and was lucky enough to be there. I wanted to see us win the BCS in the Sugar (our bowl) and was lucky to be there. I said then that I couldn't ask for anything else ever again. Never cared about the Orange. But then ND showed up undefeated and #1! PAYBACK after 39 years!!! And I was lucky enough to be there. I'm done now I guess. I still want the NCs but I don't know what could match those three EXCEPT a THREEPEAT! Here's to 2013. RTR!

Forgot to add that beating the 'horns made the Rose even more special.

..Let's see who the elder statesman is around here :)

Personally...I've witnessed ten. 61-64-65-73-78-79-92-09-011 and 012.

That's one national title every 5.7 years of my life. Not a bad average!

My favorite would be 92. That was just a very special year.

65 was one of my favorites as well because we got totally screwed by a blown call in the Georgia game(18-17), Tied Tennessee when Stabler intentionally threw the ball out of bounds to kill the clock on fourth and goal thinking it was third down, and then two or three teams had to lose on New Years for us to have a prayer and they all did. Then we dominated a Nebraska team 39-28 in the Orange Bowl that outweighed us by 35 pounds or so per man. That was a very magical day.

You guys?

sip
There are a few of us old timers.

It's hard to really pick just one winner. My favorites were 1961, 1978, 1992, 2009, 2011, and 2012. Pat Trammell in '61; the goal line stand against Penn State; beating Miami, Texas and Notre Dame. It's always good to beat LSU. I'm still irritated about 1966! We were robbed. It was an aggravated assault on the U of A and I am still aggravated.

If I have to pick three it would be beating Miami, Texas and Notre Dame.

If I had to pick two: Texas and Notre Dame.

If I just have to pick one, it's got to be beating the school that I dislike the most: Notre Dame. With the loss of so many players on defense, this was a GREAT year. However, we need to beat them several more times and then I'll really feel good.

Coach Bryant's 25 years were great.

The last four years have been awesome.

RTR!!!!!!!

Elder statesman? Reckon Earle has that locked up, sip. However, I qualify as an old geezers. BTW, excellent list. Well thought out and with evidence provided.

My favorite is 2009, however. With Coach Saban arrival in 2007, one of my top bucket list wishes was to see just one more national championship. I was confident that 2010 would be that year, if I made it. WOW! We got three more and fell short in 2010. I'll take it. Anymore will be just lagniappe.

Oh! Personally witnessed: add 1941. I remember it as if it were yesterday. And, while we're at it add 1945. If the Rose Bowl winner earned the championship in '25, '26, & '34, why not 1945. Polls be danged!

If we add 1945, then I was around but not yet aware of Bama football. I agree about 1945. After playing USC in January 1946, I wish we could have played Army in a NC game.

It looks like no one likes to see Alabama win unless they are Bama people. Seems like rules get changed every time we win a NC. What's going to change now? Will we just drop football as a nation since Bama has won the last 3 of 4? Using head injuries as the excuse, but the real excuse is Bama winning! Bama winning NEVER gets old!

A total of 7, but I only remember 4. 1992 was special because it was right after I finished school and I went to all the game that year, but my favorite was this year. :)

1973, 1978, 1979, 1992, 2009, 2011, and 2012. That's seven I've been alive for, but I was born in 1972, so the 1973 title is a stretch.

However, I do remember all of the others, and I have to say that the 1992 was my favorite because I grew up in Florida and I hated the Hurricanes. We were such an underdog in that game that it just made it so much sweeter to utterly destroy Miami. If you look up the phrase "defense wins championships" in the Guide to Football Cliches, there is a picture of that defense.

I don't remember the 1992 one as I was only 6 years old. This current one is my favorite. An epic beat down against ND. Awesome.
