My favorite is probably the North and the South. I watched it as a boy and just watched the whole series a few years back as an adult. It is very well done.

Another vote for V. That was what, '83 or '84?

I almost want to add The Ten Commandments. (Maybe because it was so long it just seemed like a mini-series.) That's just a great movie.

Lonesome Dove

Head and shoulders above everything else.

See, I missed that one when it was on regular television. It was probably another 10 or 15 years before I saw it at all.

I do recall loving the fire out of it though.

Of the classics, I remember Shogun and The Martian Chronicles fondly (among others).

Of the more contemporary miniseries, I'd have to say Dune and Children of Dune (among others).

I liked two that were based off of Stephen King books..."The Stand" and "It".

Does "Firefly" count as a mini-series? ;) If it does, it wins hands-down!
