Well we let the banks run the show for a while and look at the mess they made:mad:
Banks don't make trillions of dollars appear/disappear. The Fed does that.

Banks don't skew the incentives for home buying. Congress does that.

But, to the extent that some banks are too blame, those would be the ones whose leadership spends as much time employed in the federal government as on Wall Street.

I don't think I'm the one who missed the point.
Just noting that in your opening comment you indicated that managers should have been better able to plan for the cuts. I was noting that we were told directly not to plan and not to take any actions that might mitigate the damage. Will say however you've burst my optimistic bubble by telling me businesses when forced to reduce expenses wouldn't stop unprofitable areas before they stop profitable ones.

And you needed someone else to tell you that? Without the "profitable areas", a business cannot succeed. I've always said that I am not in business to lose money or to break even. I am in business to make money. Otherwise, what's the purpose of operating a business in the first place?

So you believed the politicians? Big no no. While I believe that we can cut everywhere the Air Force is not one of them I'd cut too deep. I would like them to have the very best because in modern warfare the ** is critical to reducing casualties and bringing a much quicker end to conflicts. Some of the stories of how old some of their equipment is downright terrifying.

I'm against more military cuts because about a year and 4 months ago me and 20 of my coworkers lost our jobs due to military cuts. Others have lost there job throughout the year and more cuts mean even more of my former coworkers will be out of a job. I don't believe that the best way to fix the economy is to force more people into the jobless market. What do I know though, I'm just someone who has been laid off twice because of spending cuts since Obama was first elected president 4 years ago. I don't care who is really to blame, I just know that I had never been laid off before until Obama took office.

The tax payers probably had to pay $100,000,000 for those 20 jobs.

The GOP is against military spending cuts because the defense companies who have contracts are paying them to say that. Military people are just as bad. They are stuck in the 1950's. I've heard an Air Force guy go on about how the government needs to buy more bombers and build more nukes because we are going to lose a war with China. They are too dumb to realizes we've been in an war(economic) with China for the last 20 years and have been losing. No nukes or planes are going to help us....

Heh. Either gmart switched parties, or he's undercover... ;)
actually i did switch parties. i am now a registered democrat in md. i vomited for 36 straight hours and then punched myself in the babymakers. but it was the only way to have a say in the state government of the people's soviet socialist republic of marylandistan.

as an additional benefit, if i ever get caught molesting children, cheating on taxes, killing wives/gf's, humping dudes in truckstops, or commiting outright fraud, i can just go to drug rehab and be forgiven for everything after 5 days.

You think civilians have cornered the market on stupidity? Guess you've never been in the miliitary. Good thing about the military is, they send them back to civilian life to become politicians. I don't mean to be rude but I get the goverment workers do nothing all the time and it gets old. I work 10 hours a day (an hour I just give them), drive 90 miles round trip, and support every Army unit in the world that needs our software. I think I earn my pay.

The worst thing about a government job is you can't fire the "sit on my butt and do nothing" while everyone else does their job for them without an act of Congress. That's because of Congress and the Unions, it irritates everyone one of us who do theirs.

Deja Vu. Next week we face it again. Anybody think it will be addressed this time or just kicked down the road again. Since neither congress nor the whitehouse seem to be able to accomplish anything useful I have come to the conclusion that we may be better off in the long run letting it happen.

Kick the can. Kick the can. Run away as fast as you can.

We agree. Bipartisanship, even if you had to find a Libertarian to accomplish it.
