When the dust settled on National Signing Day, the SEC thoroughly and completely embarrassed the Big 10. The SEC placed 11 teams in the final Top 25 recruiting rankings as determined by Rivals.com, with the No. 1 overall spot being claimed yet again by the Alabama Crimson Tide. The Big 10, on the other hand, placed three teams in the Rivals Top 25…

The SEC leads the way with 79 players invited to the 2013 NFL combine. LSU has 13 players on that list, which includes cornerback Tyrann Mathieu, and that ties the Tigers with Florida State for the most nationally. A year ago, the SEC sent 52 players to the NFL combine. The only SEC school not sending anybody to the NFL combine this year is Ole Miss. The combine runs Feb. 20-26 at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Let’s face it. Nobody ever has a bad signing class. Can you imagine a coach standing up at his post-signing day news conference and proclaiming that that particular class simply didn’t measure up? However, according to the ESPN Recruiting team, none of the 14 SEC schools finished with lower than a B- this year. Not only that, but seven schools received an A or A-.
So, somebody’s doing something right in this league. Here’s a look back at a few superlatives from signing day:
