Today, our first stop is…where else? The bell cow of the SEC: Alabama
College football's signing day is (thankfully) in the rear-view mirror, and the start of spring practice is right around the corner. There's not a better time for the second edition of the 2013 Way-Too-Early Preseason Top 25. Alabama, the two-time defending BCS national champion, remains No. 1 after signing what is considered the country's best recruiting class. But Oregon, which was previously No. 2 when it looked like coach Chip Kelly would stay, falls to No. 5 after he left for the Philadelphia Eagles. Stanford, Ohio State and Texas A&M climbed up a spot, and Florida, Notre Dame and Michigan also were big climbers after signing top-10 recruiting classes. Along with Oregon, South Carolina, Clemson, Texas, Oregon State and Boise State fell a few notches.Say good-bye to Wisconsin, which lost coach Bret Bielema to Arkansas and hired former Utah State coach Gary Andersen to replace him, and USC, which remains a mess under coach Lane Kiffin.
AJ McCarron was almost giddy when he spoke with ESPN's Tom Rinaldi on the morning of national signing day. Alabama's junior quarterback has won two national championships as a starter, and he broke all kinds of passing records this past season. And despite all he has accomplished, the steely, strong-armed veteran had something to get worked up about, something to look forward to next season.
The Paterno report was nothing more than putting White wash over a moldy fence. Doesn't change a thing. Window dressing designed to try to make things look better.
No folks, there is no end to the recruiting season. It is a process that coaches have to endure 24/7/365. Recruiting service Rivals.com has already begun preparing for the next class, and just recently they released the first Rivals100 for 2014.Take a look down the list and familiarize yourself with these prospects, you are sure to be hearing a lot about them over the next 12 months.
The SEC dominated last week’s National Signing Day, and 40 percent of the top 100 players signed with SEC teams. The SEC is a machine that isn’t slowing down anytime soon. Even Kentucky and Vanderbilt are cashing in.Here’s a look at the top recruiting classes by position:

It's pretty much full speed ahead now to the start of spring practice in the SEC. With that in mind, let's take a closer look at where everybody in the league stands based on what's happened over the past 5 years.
