AD Battle may get a quick chance at a big decision. My question is if Minnesota makes a big push for Grant would Bama counter to keep him? As posters know I'm a supporter of Grant but I don't know how many raises Bama would match if the Gophers really have him as their #1. Any thoughts?

In business, you always want to keep the best people as long as the price is right. CAG is a great coach for us but if Minny offers to make him a crazy amount i think we let him go. But i do think we try hard to keep him b/c i believe he has us on the doorstep of multiple NCAA tourney bids.

Successful companies don't have a lot of turnover, at the top.

I bet someone, from down the road, will point out we are not successful.

I wouldn't pay him any more money or extend his contract. I think he's done an OK job considering the circumstances, but I wouldn't pay him more or extend him just because another team offers him. If he is still here next year, that will be his money year as far as getting a raise and extension.

I agree. An ok job. I think there's a probably quite a few of other coaches that Minnesota might go after before they get to Grant.

Tim Brando was saying today that the facilities are rancid at Minnesota. I don't see CAG taking it if offered.

In a very classy manner Tubby said in his exit speech that following NCAA rules and crappy facilities were the reasons he couldn't recruit at the level of other schools.

It's honestly hard for me to see another school offering Grant more than we're paying him now, based on his performance so far...

plus, Alabama is in a much better position to win their conference than Minnesota is to do anything in the B10. And i think Alabama is set up better to be successful. I think Minny won't go after Grant anyway b/c they would have to offer him significant more money. With the Florida Gulf Coast University coach out there making minimal and Ben Howland who just got fired, their are better financial options out there before you get to Grant.

My aged memory just returned for some reason and I remembered that he's twice been offered more than we're paying him and he refused to even talk with either of the schools. The man is really devoted to finishing the rebuilding job at Bama, so I'd be very surprised if he even negotiated with Wisky...

Guessing one of those schools was Georgia Tech. Who was the other?

I was listening to Donovan yesterday talk about job offers and he basically said "When I make a decision on leaving a job, I'm also effecting the lives of 5 other people in my family. My wife and kids love Gainesville." So I think he is out of the mix for UCLA or any job. I don't think we have anything to worry about. The program is not in dire straits and is in good hands.

There is a poster "RichmondInsider" who's posted on "Gopherhole.com" that Grant is interviewing tomorrow. The other posters on that site say this guy is a troll with no inside connections at all. Since it'll land on this board sooner or later, I thought I'd head it off. The other opportunities Grant has had are better than then Gophers...
