There needs to be a separate thread for TAX CODE issues. What the IRS did while targeting conservative groups including having them harassed by other fed agencies is not a simple tax code issue.

What is so difficult to understand about that?

Interesting take on the lawsuits against the IRS
Tea Partiers Don't Have a Good Legal Case Against the IRS

You seem to really have a problem with Tea Party groups in this situation but how do you feel about liberal groups getting tax exempt status with no problems? Media Matters is clearly a liberal group and work on political matters, they even stated their goal was to get Fox News off the air. Where is their social welfare unless you consider getting rid of Fox as social welfare? What about the Tides Foundation?

Do I need to add more or do you not see that political groups have already been given tax exemption? The problem here is these Tea Party groups were delayed until after the election. Without tax exempt status they couldn't raise money as they should have. Do you really want this country to be "fair" or do you want one side to have all advantages?

You might find this interesting but then again maybe not.

Well maybe my side should have a slight advantage! :) Good link you provided swoop. Did you notice that unlike the delayed Tea party groups, there was no mention of Tides working for or against a political cnadidate? To me that is the big difference.I think granting of tax exempt status has gotten way out of hand.
Good post about thongs and commas:biggrin: Don't make me come down to Valdosta!!

Well after you made a post about Reb and his underware, I thought you were trying to make a statement. ;)
The Tides Foundation funnels it's money in many directions. Just because they don't give it directly to a candidate doesn't mean the money doesn't get there one way or the other. This still isn't the point though. How would you like the IRS to be used against something you feel strongly about just to give someone else an advantage. That is what this is about, the big hand of the government coming down just because they don't believe the way you want them too.

Edit: Okay, I feel dirty now and will have to go get my shower. I clicked on your link, didn't read the whole thing but got the jist of it. This isn't about a letter. They kept these people waiting for THREE years. How many liberal groups waited THREE years? These people couldn't collect money and give it's donors a tax credit without the tax exemption. I'm failing to see why this is hard to understand, even Bamaro seems to get it. ;)

Mother Jones...really? Is this where you get your liberal walking orders? That rag is a leftist joke.

And the Daily Kos?? Are you serious? Got to stick with the narrative above all else right?

I swear you remind me of the State Farm insurance ad where the women believes everything she reads because it's on the internet.

Don't you know Wiki can and is often edited for political reasons?

boston.com said:
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Internal Revenue Service’s screening of groups seeking tax-exempt status was broader and lasted longer than has been previously disclosed, the new head of the agency acknowledged Monday. Terms including ‘‘Israel,’’ ‘'Progressive’’ and ‘‘Occupy’’ were used by agency workers to help pick groups for closer examination, according to an internal IRS document obtained by The Associated Press.
Aaaannd its over. At least Obama is doing plenty of other crap that is really heinous so the right doesn't even have to try and manufacture crises.

I find it humorous the levels you guys will go to excuse anything this administration does. Screening is their job but delaying approval isn't. Show me some cases where these left leaning groups approval was delayed for three years like some of the Tea Party groups were then you have a case but until then you are just okaying this action because it isn't happening to you or your side.

How quickly did these organizations respond to IRS requests for more info? We don't know. Failure to respond would have certainly delayed approval. You know I'm right!
