I just have to laugh. They have not scored a SINGLE offensive point against us since money bags was their quarterback. That was three years ago. The combined total of the last two games is 91-14. They hired their third choice for head coach. Their new defensive coordinator is a guy who A) used to be our defensive coordinator back during one of the worst periods in our history and B) was the head coach at Southern Miss for one season where he went 0-12 and gave up an average of 38.3 points a game. In fact, he did so poorly there, the powers that be at USM were ready to boot him just 3 or 4 games into the season. Heading into this season, they will be transitioning back to the spread once again. That means they went from spread, to pro style, now back to spread. There will be some hiccups, to say the least. Not to mention, it's a high school offense that was really only successful when they had a once in a lifetime qb under center. They will be better than 3-9 and 0-8 in the conference, but they clearly do not have the talent/depth to win 10 games like some of their fan base are predicting.

And, if they put a space in the middle of "BEAT" it would reflect the first choice of most of their roster during the recruting process.

Ya know....what else can they do, though? #1 way to keep your HC job is to appease the fan base. #1 way to do that is wins...especially vs your in state rival. #2 way to appease the natives is to hate/stand up to/go after whomever they feel is their arch nemesis. If your the HC @ AU then you pretty much have to beat Bama and if you could do it often enough.....THEN and only then could you say...."OK AU people we are no longer defined JUST by the Alabama game". It's a tough row to hoe but for AU, everything begins with standing up to us and beating us on the field. The problem, of course, is that even when they've had a decent run of success they either implode or their own insecurities consume them. Some people in life are just more comfortable failing than they are succeeding.
That would be a better goal. Auburn will never have longterm success because they are eaten up with their hatred for Bama. Their goal should be to be Bama. They shouldn't hate us, they should try to be like us. That is the real difference between Bama and Auburn. We are interested in being the best we can be, while they are interested in destroying us.
