Those are all very different players -- is there some rule that white players can only be compared to other white players? ;)
LOL. From what film I have been able to watch, athletically he seems to be a slightly taller version of Tyler Hayes, but that doesn't give you much to compare. :)

Tyler Hayes would have been a pretty good player. Real shame.
Yep; he was contributing on ST and playing well there. Bad decisions have equally bad consequences.

Looking forward to Holcombe though; I think he'll at least be a missile on ST duty and he could see action against the more spread teams.

Hayes had a bright future at UA, and probably would have been a mainstay on defense last year had he stayed out of trouble. Lord knows we could have certainly used his skillset. Goes to show, once again, that, for most guys, the real competition is with yourself and you are your own worst enemy.

Incidentally, saw the other day where he transferred to West Georgia. He had a strong season last year at Butler CC in Kansas, and one that should (and otherwise would) have been strong enough to earn him a lot of good offers from BCS schools, but no one was touching him with the off-field issues, so now he's going to end up his college career playing D2 football in front of glorified high school crowds. Not just the severity of the crime that held him back -- though obviously that played a big role -- but a lot of coaches look at it with the perception that if he couldn't be reigned in more than that under Saban's strict tutelage, they had no hope of keeping him on the straight and narrow, even if only for a couple of years. Sad story.
