Bobby Wyatt, Cory Whitsett, and Justin Thomas all members of Bama's National Championship team play both in the morning and in the afternoon for the United States team. Also soon to be Bama golfer Gavin Moynihan plays in the morning and in the afternoon for the Great Britain and Ireland team. Alabama is getting a lot of positive time on the Golf Channel this morning.

This should be a great weekend of golf. The Golf Channel will televise parts of event today 3 to 5.

Americans Dominate Singles and lead 8-4 after First Day of Walker Cup

The Americans dominated the afternoon singles matches at the 44th annual Walker Cup to take an 8-4 lead after the first day of play at the National Golf Links of America on Saturday.

Bobby Wyatt was the first match in the afternoon and overcame an early deficit to defeat Neil Raymond 2 up. Cory Whitsett defeated Jordan Smith 1 up and Justin Thomas halved with Nathan Kimsey to give USA a half point.

Crimson Tide incoming freshman and Great Britain and Ireland player Gavin Moynihan also made a splash on the international scene with a victory over USA's Patrick Rodgers 2 and 1 in the final match of the day. It was the only victory of the afternoon for GB&I.

The Walker Cup runneth over!!! A lot of Kudos going out to our Alabama Boys on Golf Channel.

The United States ran away with a 17-9 victory on Sunday over the Great Britain and Ireland team in the 44th annual Walker Cup Match at the National Golf Links of America.The Alabama contingent on the American squad was instrumental in the USA's 35th Walker Cup Match victory. The Americans now lead the series 35-8-1. Mobile's Bobby Wyatt led all scorers with 3.5 of a possible four points while Justin Thomas (Goshen, Ky.) added three points and Cory Whitsett (Houston) scored 2.5 points.Tide freshman and Dublin, Ireland, native Gavin Moynihan scored two of the GB&I team's nine points. Moynihan lost 1 up on the final hole on Sunday to Patrick Rodgers.
