Like you, I wasn't at the game, and I also have been reading the ags forum. They have a thread discussing rude/unruly fans at the game. I was pleased to read that about 99% of their complaints of fans were in fact talking about other aggies. Their was one or two exceptions, but almost everyone complimented the UA fan base. Multiple post described their shame and embarrassment of the way many of their fellow aggies acted toward Bama fans in general, followed by stating how well they were treated at BDS last year. I was glad to see that our fan base represented the University with the same class and integrity that is the University of Alabama!! :BigA:I did not attend, but have been reading TexAgs and they compliment Bama fans without exception. Seems like everyone got along well, considering. Would also love to hear from our fans who were there.
I like to take swipes at the Aggies but I was expecting them to be good hosts. You give a nice report, thanks.Just got back home from CS; Arrived 1:00pm Friday, met with family that flew in from Mobile at, Mexican restaurant in CS. All seated we could see were Ags, Everyone very friendly. That night 4 of us went to the biggest bar area,Northgate, got a table by the street and it started. I had my crimson BAMA tee shirt on, hard to miss. A Houston TV reporter with cameraman stopped at the table and asked me if I would comment on the Aggie experience. Don't know if it aired. All were younger than us but all extremely friendly and the majority saw my shirt, extended their hand and welcomed us to Aggieland. Game day all had BAMA garb on, and we all were welcomed and insisted on joining tented tailgates. The one we entered had a buffet of ribeye, cheese mashed potatoes and pies and cakes. Could not pay for a beer or cold water.(It was 97 degrees) The game crowd was the same. The only time we had a quiet crowd was when Sunseri scored. I don't know how the line heard anything. I had Ely on livesportsradio in my ear and sometimes full volume was not enough. After the game even more gracious. We were riding with my son in law, full bore Aggie grad, walked halfway across campus, got a hundred handshakes. I sure was proud of our coaches and team for the way they came back in such a rowdy place.
I don't know if fans from either side had the energy to be nasty we other after the game. I watched it from the recliner in my living room and I was exhausted. Had I been at the game, I think I would've need oxygen and an IV.Just got back home from CS; Arrived 1:00pm Friday, met with family that flew in from Mobile at, Mexican restaurant in CS. I started to say the same thing as regards the A&M comparison to Penn State fans. Great comparisonAggies were great before, during, and after the game. I heard "Welcome to College Station" several times, and many "congratulations" afterwards. Can't say enough about their hospitality. There really is a conscious respect, each school for the other. Reminded me of how Penn State treated us up there a couple of times. It's good to have these guys in the conference. Some of our SEC brethren have a lot to learn about respect for the game, and can learn from A&M.
