Every year a fake injury story comes out about Julio breaking both legs in a car accident. This isn't the case.

@JayGlazer: Breaking: Falcons fear Julio Jones likely OUT for the rest of the year w/foot injury. second opinion tomorrow

@JayGlazer: Initial determination by falcons is that Julio Jones season is over. They are hopeful 2nd opinion says otherwise but not optimistic

he sat right after that big catch. Then on the next play he came in, he was limping badly. I was hoping he just tweaked it and not this serious.

Julio Jones = Warrior. Maybe clowney might need to take note of how you are supposed to play the game both in college and the nfl. Julio comes to play eveyday.

If his season is over it's probably because the Falcons' season is over. If they were 5-0 I doubt this would be a season ending thing.

It stinks because he's leading all NFL WRs in yards. He was on his way to being an All Pro.

Julio may be my favorite player to come out of Alabama since CNS took over as coach. Hard worker, plays hurt, never complains and is a team player. I really hate this, he was on a pace to have around 1,600 yards this season I believe. The Falcons season is quickly spiraling out of control and this makes it worse. I hope the second opinion gives him a shot to come back this season.

Edit: a few tweets from Chris Mortensen on it

Chris Mortensen ‏@mortreport 5m Julio Jones himself is caught off-guard by news his foot injury is severe enough to possibly end season after CT Scan this a.m., per source

Jones will get his second opinion Wed from Dr. Robert Anderson, noted foot specialist in Charlotte. He's in a boot but not that much pain

He was on pace to have 131 catches and 1,856 yards. Both would be second all time in NFL history. Now, I doubt he would have kept up his pace, but he certainly would have had a special year.

The Falcon's season is over, so Julio might as well shut it down and save his body some wear and tear. He is a warrior on the field and takes a much greater beating than most WRs.

Julio is BY FAR my favorite Alabama player to watch in the pros...i check the stats every week just to see how he did. He was the perfect team player at Bama, and set an example for everyone to follow. He just went about his work for the team, and wasnt into showboating, or worried about his own stats....

He's just a Great, Great person...and a fine football player too!

You probably don't know it, but he was a running back until his sophomore or junior year in HS, by which time, he'd gained enough height to be considered more valuable at receiver. He still runs with a RB's mentality after the catch, which is unusual in the pros. That's always going to put him at more risk for injury...

Playing through a significant injury isn't going to be an option for him in the pros like he did in college. If the second opionion "foot specialist" says he needs to sit, he'll sit. Too much at stake for him to injure it further. Here's hoping it's something that can be dealt with in the short-term rather than requiring a lengthy rehab or, heaven forbid, surgery.

They've got a bye week, so plenty of time to get another opinion and make a decision.

My fantasy team, which starts Matty Ice and Julio, just took a hit.

Agreed. The Falcons have been playing this year like they do in the playoffs. Might as well shut it down and recover for next year.

Maybe the season totally tanks and they can draft high enough to get Clowney. (ducks)
