I recently won a really cool picture of the 1978 team at a silent auction. When I showed it to my coworker she had really good idea. Our owner was a walk on wide receiver for the 1973 team. She said we should see if there is a similar picture of the 1973 team.

I guess it easy to figure out what happened when I went to the roster here

And then found this pic of the team

I also searched all the 70's teams.

He is not listed. Were there other players not listed? I know today the NCAA rules are really strict on the number of players, but was it that way back in 1973?

thanks

I was in school there in 1973. Tell me his name and I'll see if I can remember. I knew a lot of the players back then.

The second name on the 1973 picture front row is Alan Pizzitola who I mentioned walking on in a post the other day. He walked on in 72 but doesn't show up on the roster until 73 which means while he was practicing with the team in 72 he hadn't officially made the team until 73.

Very few walk-ons actually make the team officially but that doesn't mean they don't contribute as scout team players or practice with the team on a daily basis. Your guy may not have made the team officially but could have been a contributor to the team. A lot of guys come on as walk-ons. Right now we probably have 30-40 guys that are walk-ons and some of those will stay with it their entire time in school.
