It's nice to know that Coach Nuss will be around for at least another year! Assuming he doesn't go anywhere else! #RTR
No joke. I remember an interview with several years ago and he seemed to say or maybe imply that he wanted to coach at BSU his entire career. But just as most things in life do, things change.Wow, how many schools have tried to hire Petersen - and Washington lands him? Impressive.
Like Schiano at Rutgers, I think that he meant it when he said it. The prospect of never playing for a championship became a clear reality, so he left. I suspect that something similar happened here.No joke. I remember an interview with several years ago and he seemed to say or maybe imply that he wanted to coach at BSU his entire career. But just as most things in life do, things change.
IIRC he has a special-needs child that gets fantastic care in Boise, and that has long been the anchor keeping him in Idaho. I wonder if the child is old enough (or has been helped enough) where he no longer needs that specialized care, or perhaps similar access to help that the Petersen's have now is available in Seattle. No joke. That could be the case. Seattle has a very high-quality medical community.IIRC he has a special-needs child that gets fantastic care in Boise, and that has long been the anchor keeping him in Idaho. My thought exactly...Wow, how many schools have tried to hire Petersen - and Washington lands him? Impressive.
I have heard the latter mentioned previouslyIIRC he has a special-needs child that gets fantastic care in Boise, and that has long been the anchor keeping him in Idaho. After I-don't-even-know-how-many rejected overtures, it was starting to look like he really might just stay in Boise. Shocked UDub was the school to lure him, although it's a pretty good job.No joke. I remember an interview with several years ago and he seemed to say or maybe imply that he wanted to coach at BSU his entire career. But just as most things in life do, things change.
Hard to say what does and does not happen in these situations. But even considering only the ones that were more than just idle speculation, there have been many.I'm not sure Peterson directly rejected many schools n years past. I believe the media threw his name out as a possible candidate, but schools didn't really seem to go after him like some expected.
Hawkins was 53-11 in 5 years at Boise St. Petersen is 91-12. And, I think Boise St.'s schedule strength has improved significantly since Hawkins was there. Not to the SEC or PAC 12 level of dificulty obviously, but still much improved.I seem to remember folks thinking that Colorado would do great when they hired Boise's last coach. That didn't turn out too well.
