Well...it seems the classless Auburn fans came out tonight on my Facebook. Ironically they were fine for the IB. I have unfriended some already...I am not dealing with it.

Not sure why I am friends with rude people like that on FB anyway. So I removed some clutter.

Well, the word is out. You beat Alabama with speed, as in snap it as fast as possible because we can't beat you straight up. It works. AND it's effective.

No doubt. Although not as dramatic, I found it ironic that we had more points score on us in the SUGAR Bowl since 1969, if that rings a bell. There is a lot of work ahead for our staff to get this figured out. We willed our way against aTm, and was beaten by the others. Could have been 3 easily.

I feel really bad about the loss. But as a fan I can look back on 3 NCs in the past 5 seasons. Any school would trade places with us. But as a fan I know that my coach, CNS, will never reflect and instead will use this season as a reason to rebuild. Both the team and depth chart, but also the hunger.

Congrats to OU. They played lights out and whipped our butts. We better find an answer for the HUNH, and darn quick! CyKo stank it up. AJ looked bad in the second half. Hate that the season and Bama careers of these fine young men ended like this but it is what it is.

I can't say how much I appreciate this bunch of young men! The last few years have been wonderful, and Henry makes next year look pretty good too. Roll Tide, that is all.

Oh well, it just wasn't our game. I am sick that AJ had to go out on that note. Our OL definitely has some work to do off-season and there are definitely some teaching points to be had from this game.

On a positive note, I'm convinced that DH is definitely the man.

BTW, were the Oklahoma fans just chanting "overrated"? Way to stay classy.
And our "Rammer Jammer" cheer IS classy? Puhleeze...

Either our defensive backs need great improvement or our pass rush does. This year we had neither. We are built to beat down LSU, but we flail at the smaller quicker teams that have ability at the skilled positions.

We like to think that we are the most talented team in America, but these last two games have shown that there are different kinds of talent. They have also shown that despite all those recruiting classes, our game-ready depth is relatively shallow.

The biggest disappointment for me was the third quarter. We had OU on one knee, but had 5 three and outs, largely because we lost any semblance of balance, and that kid QB and his receivers kept making plays.

Congrats to the Sooners. They were a step faster all night.

Looking forward to the spring. Let's all swallow our disappointment and wake up tomorrow realizing how lucky we are to support the team that we do.

Exactly what I have been thinking!

I'm curious about whether or not our coaches want it at this point - and do they care about what the Sugar Bowl has traditionally meant to Bama fans?

I sort of doubt it.
I can agree with that sentiment. The only acceptable result for most Bama fans is a NC, though, and the coaches know that. It would have been nice to have won, but many would consider this season a disappointment (fair or not). Playing in the Sugar Bowl used to be regarded as a great reward for a great season. Great ambition changes that for everyone.

It was kinda like the Utah Game, but we gave more effort than we did against the Utes.
Oklahoma's version of our Defense was effective against AJ.
Ok. has settled on their future QB.

If anyone had any doubts about big Henry, I hope he put them to rest. Gonna be a great one.
My impression is that we gave up on the run too soon and became one dimensional.
My observation of our Offensive Line, is that they are maybe too big.
Defense's don't come thru them, but speedy guys can run around them. :frown:

One last impression... The Referees were blind.

I think we should look into what LSU does to stop HUNH. They have had success against Oregon, aTm, and *u. They use the same personnel package and play straight man to man, use a speed rush up front, and a safety to play center field to watch for the qb scramble and screens. We try to sub/match personnel to much and it confuses and slows down our players. JMO

It's effective when you play a defense that relies on specialists. The solution, it would seem to me, is to play more every down, all-purpose defensive players. That and get a pass rusher. A solid pass rush does a lot to disrupt that type of offense.

Let's not mistake things though...tonight was partially a depth issue. We had some injuries in some key positions that really cost us. Sunseri alone would have made a difference tonight.

I can handle us losing. The question I would like to raise, is over the last 6 quarters where di our running game go? Not the execution of it, because we were gaining good yardage (minus the 4th down stops against Auburn), but the frequency in which we run? Something seriously seemed to happen and we have abandoned it to an extent. I think it is partially because we have a problem with fumbles as a team (both Drake and Yeldon), but tonight showed me that Henry had not only learned to pass block...but is possibly the best back we have already.

don't get me wrong, I don't mind putting the game in AJ's hands to win it (if he has protection), but when we were down by two scores with plenty of time left...and we're running successfully, where does that go?

i don't get mad over losses, but I do get disappointed. This was a disappointment, because we're better then that. Our coaching is better then that, our players are better... I am kinda at a loss for words on what the real problem is, kinda like with basketball.

The last six quarters has been tough on our defense, and our offense isn't helping out with short drives (whether from penalties or passing so much).

Just like with wins, I'll give it 24 hours..and then it's on to recruiting finishing up and spring ball.

Congrats to OU for coming in prepared, and fired up. They capitalized on ALL of our mistakes, and did what it takes to win. You can't take it away from them.

What was learned from OK defeat:
-Derrick Henry has the potential to be a beast
-OL line needs some work
-DL line needs some work
-DB's need some numbers
-A few of our players need another year before NFL
-Apparently it is "NC or bust" mentality with our players...which is not bad.

That's what I've been thinking about all day. All purpose! I think those class will bring it. OU befitted off 3 turnovers. It's all good though.

They don't have to make MAJOR changes but changes need to be made for sure.

Offense has become too predictable and gets way from the running game too quick.
We need to throw to the tight-ends/OJ 5-6 times a game and throw to the backs out of the backfield to be more diverse.

Its no secret we need some help on the Dline and at DB, but I think the biggest thing the coaches need to change on defense against the HU teams is to just SIMPLIFY the calls and let your athletes make plays.

I sure hate losing. But I do believe they beat us. I agree when people say "We beat ourselves", because that's almost always been the case since 08 (with exceptions), but Oklahoma beat us tonight. Hate to end on a loss. Wish the players all the best, and thanks for the legacy. Roll Tide.
