COLLEGE STATION, Texas –
The 15th-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide saw its six-game winning streak come to an end after dropping the first game of a Southeastern Conference doubleheader to the Texas A&M Aggies by a final score of 13-8 on Saturday afternoon from Blue Bell Park.

With the Tide holding a 7-4 heading to the bottom of the fifth, the Aggies scored 12 runs over the next three innings en route to the five-run victory. Texas A&M reliever Parker Ray (3-2) entered the game in the fourth inning and threw the final six innings to record the victory. Alabama reliever Jay Shaw (1-2) took the loss for Alabama after entering the game in the fifth inning and allowing four runs on two hits and two walks.

Alabama collected 11 hits in the game, as Ben Moore, Kyle Overstreet, Wade Wass and Austen Smith had two hits each. Wass was 2-for-3 with three RBI that included his second home run of the season, a three-run shot in the fifth inning. Chance Vincent was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI and Hunter Webb was 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Off six Crimson Tide pitchers, the Aggies finished the game with 14 hits, as Nick Banks led the way with a 3-for-5 performance. Troy Stein came off the bench to go 2-for-2 with a triple and two RBI, Cole Lankford was 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored and Logan Taylor was 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI.

Alabama starting pitcher Justin Kamplain did not factor into the decision after allowing seven runs (five earned) on eight hits with a walk and two strikeouts in four-plus innings. TAMU starting pitcher Grayson Long lasted just three innings, allowing four runs on six hits with two walks and two strikeouts in three-plus innings.

After the Aggies took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, the Tide scored three times in the top of the second on an RBI groundout by William Elliott, a sacrifice fly by Chance Vincent and a two-out RBI single by Hunter Webb. Bama extended its lead to 4-1 with a two-out RBI infield single by Austen Smith in the top of the third.

The Aggies got two back in the fourth when Taylor delivered a two-run double to the left field corner to make the score 4-3 after four. The Tide responded in the next inning scoring three times on the second home run of the season by Wass. After Ben Moore and Kyle Overstreet singled to open the inning off reliever Ray, Wass hit a 3-2 pitch over 400 feet to left field to give the Tide a 7-4 advantage.

Texas A&M responded by producing eight runs over the next two innings, scoring four times in both the fifth and sixth innings to take an 11-7 lead in the game. The Tide scored an unearned run in the eighth, before Aggies responded with two more in the seventh on an RBI triple and a wild pitch.
